Ugh ... Need a lot of tinkering to add green color on start button and slightly desaturated blue on the right end, but it is beautiful nonetheless.

How to install and use #KDE on #Mint
Step 1) Install #LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) with #XFCE only. Not with #Cinnamon.
Step 2) Launch TaskSel from terminal line using the command "sudo tasksel". Select KDE Plasma and proceed forward.
You will get all the minty goodness plus the best polished DE ever, i.e. #KDE.
The drawback
It will install the old version of #KDE Plasma from Debian repositories. Not the latest 6.6 or higher. Debian takes it sweet time to upgrade.
@DrEvanGowan Try the #LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) or #EendeavourosOS with #KDE or #MXLinux.
All of them are great distros with ton of support and great communities around them.

Sagt mal, #Linux Bubble, warum zum ***** ignoriert #LMDE (6 genauso wie 7) meine Änderungen an /etc/default/grub und schreibt immer ganz stur "quiet splash" in die Kernel-Kommandozeile in /boot/grub/grub.cfg?
(Bei 2 Rechnern geht's, da werden meine Einträge in GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX und _DEFAULT übernommen. Bei allen anderen nicht. Und ich krieg' nicht raus, warum)

A screenshot of my Linux desktop.
Since in LMDE the mint Software Manager can't show installed software (but still functional to download and install software), I've found myself using Synaptic to replace mintinstall entirely.

It's doing the pause thing again. Current uptime 3 days. :thinkingg:
I currently suspect this is more of a Cinnamon / window manager / desktop display issue rather than file IO based. Running file operations in a shell doesn't result in any noticeable delays, but alt-tabbing between apps, or tabs within apps, does.
Well I've been using Linux (LMDE) as my sole desktop OS for a bit over a month now, and it's starting to feel mundane in a good way. I spent a lot of time in the first two weeks setting things up, configuring, testing, tweaking, etc... and that has all basically wrapped up. I'm pretty much just using it now.
It's not perfect, and the solutions to certain things are still Very Linux, but my Windows setup wasn't perfect either, I just got used to dealing with its eccentricities, like having to reboot my PC once after powering it on so that the audio didn't crackle, or all of the windows on my desktop moving onto one monitor after they go into power save mode because DisplayPort.
I now have a variation on this theme under Linux, if I power on the machine, the monitors are swapped until I reboot once. But I also rarely do that, so 🤷 I'll see if I can figure it out eventually if it really bothers me enough.
I have run into one instance so far of "darn, no Linux app, guess I'm not using that". Was thinking about trying out Proton Drive, but no Linux support. Maybe I could run it under wine, might give that a try eventually or not, we'll see.

#linux #lmde
Something was causing momentary pauses, in some cases up to a second or two, when switching applications, or switching between files in Xviewer, or open tabs in Sublime.
Tons of free RAM, CPU not noticeably busy. I shut down a few things like Dropbox or pCloud that might be filesystem related to no effect.
Rebooting does seem to have solved the problem. Uptime was 8 days, which is not great. I guess now I wait and see if the problem re-occurs and how long that takes.
