Het oorspronkelijk Nederlandse techbedrijf #Zivver kwam in opspraak nadat @ftm onthulde dat de nieuwe eigenaar, het Amerikaanse #Kiteworks, wordt gerund door voormalige meesterspionnen van het Israëlische leger. Dit ligt gevoelig omdat Zivver zich toelegt op de beveiliging van vertrouwelijke communicatie van tientallen landelijke en regionale overheden en ziekenhuizen.

Vanwege deze overname, het vallen onder Amerikaanse wetgeving en de nauwe verwevenheid met de Israëlische spionage-elite-eenheid van het #IDF zouden alle alarmbellen in Nederland moeten afgaan.

#ownCloud, following its recent acquisition by #Kiteworks, is once again highly likely to take the wrong strategic direction, moving it even further away from what truly good #FreeSoftware is supposed to be.
I definitely recommend #Nextcloud, founded by @Karlitschek (who left ownCloud in 2016 due to differences of opinion regarding the strategies adopted).
@nextcloud is true free software with a real community, and it makes all the difference.

And those guys, that some say where involved in the development of #stuxnet, told us that they bought owncloud because of OCIS technology (owncloud infinite scale), which they called "best on the market" and the "future platform for us"
As a journalist, I already have collected a lot of input and hints, details and documents. Nevertheless, I have no deadline and I am looking for more. Regarding the acquisition of #ownCloud by #Kiteworks the #FOSDEM talk of David Walter mentions a "five-year plan" with a "pledge to sustain open-source innovation for at least five years" (see PDF slides at https://shorturl.at/jmDX1).
Anyone got insights or ideas on what that is supposed to mean?
With #oCIS being used in the public sector there are surely some players interested in a more long-term #FOSS policy, no?
Will anyone step up to maintain #oCIS in the open if Kiteworks backs out?
