I couldn't believe what I saw at the dam this morning, a fig tree... 😍
Unfortunately it's suffering from insect damage or a fungal infection.

Here we are on 14 November (Zone 9A, Southern AZ) and my Black Jack fig is LOADED with figs still ripening. This is it's first year producing and it has exploded. I just wish it would give me more than 1 or 2 ripe at a time. I'm sure next year it'll be pumping them out regularly. These things are the size of racquetballs

In the Adelaide Hills, fig trees thrive with an unexpected lushness, their trunks thick and gnarled with age, branches sprawling like the arms of a patient giant. The cool climate and rich soil lend themselves well to their growth, resulting in dense canopies heavy with leaves and fruit during the warm months. These trees aren’t shy or sparse – they are generous, full-bodied, and commanding, often forming natural umbrellas of shade beneath which the grass grows soft and mossy. Some of the older ones, planted decades ago, have become landmarks on rural properties – their massive limbs bending and twisting as if holding the memory of many seasons. When in fruit, their figs drip with syrupy sweetness, feeding birds, bees, and generations of lucky humans who’ve come to know the Hills not just for their wine, but for their figs – thick, fragrant, and full of sun.

Well, it would appear my Blackjack Fig developed Fig Mosaic Virus. I just cut and removed the affected portion of the branch. All other leaves look super healthy. #figtree #figs #southernaz
