This #BCgovernment doesn't really care about #PeopleWithDisabilities. Programs/services/supports for #disabled citizens have been cut, budgets slashed; we face years plus long waiting lists to access both medical & disability support services, we live under #eugenics public health policies, our BC government still denies prescription coverage for several essential medications, funding for nonprofits that help disabled people live/work has been fully cut or severely reduced. That's only the tip of the inhumane cruelty icebergs - when it comes to how our governments have #dehumanized & mistreated us disabled citizens. Their dishonest PR speeches do not align with the hard realities that people with disabilities in BC face, regularly.

It was one of the worst #genocide atrocities in modern human history. Cambodians were #dehumanized like Vietnamese were. Both sovereign nations suffered many years of embargoes by US & their Western allies, along with Cold War pals back then - China. US was still angry & bitter about losing their imperialist invasion in Vietnam & they opted to punish Cambodia, Vietnam & Laos - they are really sore losers.
As you watch these #documentary films - please try to pay attention to how US officials haven't really changed their scripts in decades. They use similar lies/political deflective/avoidance verbal dances to this day. In 2024, they're talking about Arabs like they used to talk about Cambodians, Vietnamese & Laotians - like none of us are human beings. It's just collateral damage when a million or more POC folks, far from Western worlds, are mass murdered for political power games.

We split up & walked almost every single block in downtown #VictoriaBC & found many people trying to hunker down in tiny doorways & whatever spots they could find. We also found several people who froze to death on our street safety/assistance walks. I had to call authorities to pick up the dead & frozen bodies. This was never work I expected to do. It is work we did because our governments have #dehumanized #homeless citizens.
I'm physically disabled & limped my way through. There's no excuses for abled bodied except they do not care enough to get off their asses to actively help out too.
For almost 18 years, during the whole siege on #Gaza, #Israel hasn't allowed a single #toy getting across the Gaza borders. #Children being punished, being #dehumanized, just for being born. 😪

“The #decolonization narrative has #dehumanized Israelis to the extent that otherwise rational people excuse, deny, or support barbarity. It holds that #Israel is an ‘imperialist-colonialist’ force, that Israelis are ‘settler-colonialists,’ & that #Palestinians have a right to eliminate their oppressors. (On #Oct7, we all learned what that meant.) (& by association #Hamas, despite the fact it in no way safeguards the Palestinian people’s interests.)
People who suffer this violence are #Dehumanized in a multitude of ways. Instead of human beings they're "the homeless", "thugs", "criminals", "terrorists" etc.
It is terrible and awful, but our bodies and minds become desensitized. This is great for capitalism because it means less resistance. If you're not enraged by people dying on the streets when there's empty apartments, you're less likely to organize.
Also, it's not just that you become desensitized - it is also exhausting to organize because the violence is constant and ongoing. Its why so many activists burn out.
