It needs, however, a #XEP, so that a message I pin at my work PC on #Dino is also pinned when I'm at my home PC on #Gajim.

I really think it is a useful feature and have been using it in Mattermost and Slack for many years.
I hope #xmpp clients like #dino #gajim and #conversations_im will follow with a similar feature, maybe even making it possible to sync such message pins across clients.

Das ist nur Idee. Vielleicht die Große Concernen hat ein Lobby und manche Phone Herteller macht das "by default". Nur für diese Apps.
Huawei zum Beispiel hat Facebook als System App preinstaliert.
@stefan Speziell am Handy hatten manche Bekannte anfangs Probleme mit zu spät oder gar nicht erschienenen Benachrichtigungen, so dass empfangene Nachrichten nicht wahrgenommen wurden. Das lag i.d.R. an App-Berechtigungen (Hintergrundausführung) und/oder Stromsparfunktionen, wo entsprechende Ausnahmen nötig waren (ist btw. bei manchen Fitness-Apps ähnlich). Warum diese manuellen Einstellungen bei #conversations_im, aber z.B. nicht bei WhatsApp oder Signal nötig sind, weiß ich leider nicht - jemand eine Idee? Evtl. definieren manche Hersteller abweichende Voreinstellungen für bestimmte bekannte Apps, oder sie waren vorinstalliert?
Das ist aber streng genommen kein Problem von XMPP sondern des jeweiligen Smartphones.

What I love about #Conversations_im as a #UnifiedPush distributor—aside from #XMPP being a reliable, secure, and efficient protocol—is that it comes with a healthy dose of decentralization.
Sure, you can technically self-host a Sunup instance, but will you? XMPP already offers thousands of providers out of the box.
Unfortunately spam and abuse - like anywhere on the Internet - can be a problem in public channels on the Jabber/XMPP network.
That's why the next version of #Conversations_im is combining ban and message deletion (moderation) into one step.
Let's hope you won't need that functionality very often.
Now that #Conversations_im is interfacing with Google Play Services via open-source code to retrieve a push token, we could potentially add Firebase Cloud Messaging as a last-resort fallback to the F-Droid build flavor as well.
I’m not sure if people want that. To some, the F-Droid version is a guarantee that Play Services won’t be used, even when installed on the device.

XMPP in general and #Conversations_im in particular are used a lot by organizations and individuals that have something to hide. They have absolutely zero interest in appearing on marketing slides or blog posts. But buy #XMPP developers enough Belgian beer at FOSDEM and you'll hear the stories.

Ein cooles und oft unterschätztes Feature (evtl. sogar Alleinstellungsmerkmal?) von XMPP-Messengern ist übrigens die echte Mehrgerätefähigkeit und Geräteunabhängigkeit:
Du kannst dich von beliebig vielen Geräten gleichzeitig einloggen und mit allen parallel Nachrichten senden und empfangen.
Wenn du dein Handy verloren oder kaputt gemacht hast, kannst du vom Laptop aus weiterhin mit deinen Kontakte schreiben, ohne dass du dein Handy dazu benötigst.
Natürlich alles verschlüsselt und datenschutzfreundlich usw.
Ich möchte dich heute zum #did deshalb dazu einladen, #XMPP einmal auszuprobieren. Die Messenger-App Conversations gibt es aktuell angeblich (kann es mangels Google-Account nicht prüfen) sogar kostenlos im PlayStore :)

Der Digital Independence Day ist eine tolle Initiative, deren Werte wir zu 100% teilen. Die Empfehlung für Signal ist allerdings ein Schritt in die falsche Richtung und treibt Nutzer von einem geschlossenen System in ein anderes.
Zum Glück gibt es auch Wechselrezepte für die Independent Messaging Apps #Quicksy, #Monal und #Conversations_im, die wirkliche Souveränität bieten.
Ein Wechsel zu Quicksy ist genauso einfach wie ein Wechsel zu Signal.
