Black Friday: The Day the Arrow Died

On February 20, 1959, a day known in the industry as 'Black Friday,' the Diefenbaker government abruptly cancelled the Avro Arrow project. The decision was attributed to soaring costs & the advent of missile technology. The cancellation immediately put nearly 15,000 highly skilled Avro employees & thousands more in the supply chain out of work. #Canada #AvroArrow #Aviation #CanadianHistory #ColdWar 🇨🇦

*Black History is Canadian History*

Hopeful that the history and experience of Black people and communities in Canada will be shared and honoured here during this Black History Month.

Seeking to do my best to listen and amplify authentic Black voices.

Hope others will follow, listen and amplify to create a safer and authentic space for Black voices here.

Sharing the Dalhousie University / Canadian Heritage resource *A Black People’s History of Canada* to help kick off the month.
