Finally we're able to create #Snapshots of VMs with shared block storage (such like #iSCSI, #FibreChannel & #NVMeoF) with LVM Thick without doing dirty workarounds. Well done Proxmox (& Alex!).
Recently, I created a plugin (including PVE UI integration) for #NetApp based storages to create storage side snapshots.
PS: #ProxLB also already supports PVE9!

I don't know if anybody noticed #ZeroFS yet, but it seems there is a completely user space-implementation of #NFS and #blockstorage on top of #S3 #objectstorage: https://github.com/Barre/zerofs

#ReleaseWednesday Just pushed a new version of https://thi.ng/block-fs, now with additional multi-command CLI tooling to convert & bundle a local file system tree into a single block-based binary blob (e.g. for bundling assets, or distributing a virtual filesystem as part of a web app, or for snapshot testing, or as bridge for WASM interop etc.)
Also new, the main API now includes a `.readAsObjectURL()` method to wrap files as URLs to binary blobs with associated MIME types, thereby making it trivial to use the virtual filesystem for sourcing stored images and other assets for direct use in the browser...

https://thi.ng/block-fs provides highly customizable & extensible block-based storage with an optional hierarchical filesystem layer. This is useful everywhere you might need virtual filesystem, though the storage providers can also be used without the filesystem layer (e.g. for #Forth-style block data/editors).
The default configuration provides:
- arbitrarily nested directories
- filenames (UTF-8) of max. 31 bytes per directory level
- max. 32 owner IDs
- file locking
- creation/modification timestamps (64 bit)
- efficient append writes
Currently included storage providers: TypedArray-based in-memory and host filesystem based file storage (one block per file). More are planned (e.g. IndexedDB, remote endpoint)...
The readme is currently still lacking various diagrams to illustrate the filesystem internals. I will add those ASAP...

My server has secondary block storage from the hosting provider, which contains a BTRFS file system - e-mail, Git repositories, and so forth. This morning, processes attempting to access the file system could not be terminated (even with kill -9), and the file system couldn't be mounted after a reboot.
At first I suspected BTRFS file system corruption. While attempting to create a backup image of the file system with the dd command, though, I found that I could only read approximately the first 16MB of data from the block device. This explained the file system errors, of course. As I was working on this, the problem suddenly went away.
I assume the issue was in the provider's infrastructure, and they fixed it.
After service was restored, btrfs check showed no file system errors at all, so now everything appears to be running normally.
