That time when I captured a bee slipping from a blossom. 🪻 :blobcat:

A 2 picture sequence in one photo: on the left there's a bee collecting pollen from a lilac coloured blossom. On the right photo said bee falls off the blossom to the bottom, visibly blurred from the motion downwards.

Early today…just to keep you on your toes.😊

Landscape version of the bumblebee foraging on cornflowers video here.

They ask me why I do both landscape and portrait versions.
I ask myself that too.
Then I get confused about who asked it.
Then thinking about that I forget what the question was.
I try to remember that…
and get a bit tired with all the effort…so I just go back to posting about #bees… and I post landscape and portrait versions of the same video…and then they ask me why I do…

Illustrations I made a while ago for Climate Illustrated.

During the learning journey »Becoming Climate Artivists«, that was hosted by Climate Illustrated and One Resilient Earth, participants were asked to search their surroundings to find something with a seed in it, bring this back to the group and use it as a starting point to reflect and share a story.

I myself took part in the learning journey and found it a very enriching activity. Though I love gardening it was the first time I reflected deeper about the meaning of seeds, their links to humans and the planet.

The illustrations are made for three of these »Seed Stories«. The first one is about forget-me-not seeds, the second is about an unknown seed, that travelled around the world, and the third is about primrose seeds.

Male #bumblebees can’t #sting - even if they wanted to!
They don’t have a stinger.
All females (queens and workers) develop a stinger but the equivalent part of the body in males develops into the genital capsule.
Ouch!

Late?
Indubitably!
Had this fact ready to go for 3pm.
Left it down outside for a moment.
Turned my back briefly and it was gone.
Found it just now - it was hiding from ICE as it had heard they don’t like facts.
😔🙄
Take care folks.

Keeping with the male bumblebee theme:
Male #bumblebees do not forage for #pollen and #nectar for the colony but rather forage exclusively for nectar for themselves to maintain energy for mating flights and mating!

"Like wily perfumers, a parasitic beetle’s larvae create floral aromas to lure in bees. Plants are known to cosplay as animals, but this rare discovery could be the first known example of an animal chemically mimicking a plant."

Nomada sp 🕰️
