Another very superb owl: I was standing on a path next to a marsh when a bird from down the way started flying towards me. As I stood transfixed, the barred owl landed on a branch of a tree just on the other side of the path!!! This isn't my best barred owl shot, but it was my first one. :)

People are posting #SuperbOwl photos for #SuperbOwlSunday, so I thought I'd add mine to the mix. For the longest time, I had wanted to photograph an owl, but I had been thwarted by their stealthiness. Then, I spotted one hanging out by a trail near my house.

It didn't seem perturbed by the resulting photo session.
