Played #BurrowsAndBadgers last night. And, for the first time ever, with little joy.

My opponent was just annoying. He's a harmless, old bloke - but constantly yabbering throughout about rules and table lists, giving unwanted advice and pontificating about the other games he likes.

It didn't feel like we were playing a mutual game, but rather that I was rolling dice during an endless inane monologue.

Shame...

Spent a few hours going through my 83yo Dad's Google Drive - it mostly dates from 2008 - 2014 (when I moved his stuff from OneDrive) and he hasn't really used it since.

There are folders copied into sub folders. Multiple duplicates of photos. Photos taken of photos on a computer screen that he already owns digitally.

I reduced his stuff from 9GB to 2.7GB (purely from duplicate deletion) and sorely regret introducing him to the digital age two decades ago.

Glad you found the tennis for her and she still sounds quite independent.

We only just realised a few weeks ago that Dad was struggling (classic didn't want to bother anyone but ends up causing more issues). He's still relatively independent but we get his shopping delivered and I keep an eye on his wash basket.

Sounds like we're at that age where we parent our parents! 😆

It's the evening, approaching sunset, and we're standing on the main street of a city looking along its length. The street has been closed to traffic and there are people and evenly-spaced palm trees lined along both pavements in front of the buildings set back from them. In the middle of the street a red carpeted area has been set out and there is a group of people, three across, eight deep, with a leader at the head, all wearing karate outfits and in the middle of a synchronised strike pose facing towards us. The sun is out of view at the end of the street where the sky burns bright white with the glare and it casts long shadows of the martial artists along the street performing for the crowds. More karate people can be seen in the distance as there are many demonstrations taking place.

There was an advert for 'Visit the USA' on YouTube yesterday. How I laughed.

Another - 'OMG, what else?' morning with my 83yo Dad who is in the early stages of dementia.

Finally got on top of Dad's washing pile and put that away for him. And then a found a food caddy that's full of month-old remnants and dead maggots. Almost heaved clearing all that away.

I'm really hoping there are no more 'surprises' with Dad and his deterioration, but I'm not hopeful.

With the alleged state of Windows 11 updates at the moment, I wonder if Microslop are using CoPilot to update their code without actually checking that it's suited to purpose.

If that's the case, the phrase 'hoisted by their own petard' comes to mind.

A scan of an old, square format, colour photo. We're looking into the corner of a living room and to the right of view just intruding there's part of a fireplace surround in long, grey bricks topper with polished wood mantelpiece on which some potted plants sit and trail leaves over the front. The wall in the corner behind the fireplace and chimney breast area has vertical pine panelling, almost glowing yellow. A glass shelf is mounted high and hanging from the three large S-shaped brackets that support it are large glass tankards. In the centre of the wall there's also a calendar which features a glamorous picture of a woman taking up three quarters of it, although a tankard blocks her face. There's a TV set in the corner of the room below that. It's a small CRT model and it's off but on on the top there are three darts trophies, a potted plant, a flat thermometer, and a couple of painted figurines. The adjacent wall is yellow, almost matching the pine tones, and the edge of a brown curtain with a small-dotted orange pattern down its side can just be seen.

Lunchtime walk to feed the squirrels in the cemetery but the squirrels were a little thin on the ground today as the cemetery was rammed with cars and people attending a funeral. Someone fairly well-known or well-loved in Portsmouth's Asian community from the looks of it. A few squirrels did well out of us, though.
