Thanks to the satellite SONATE-2 that is being operated by students, we were able take these amazing pictures of Campo Militar de Santa Margarida, where the European Rocketry Challenge (EUROC) took place!

Is WüSpace launching #rockets now?!?
No, at least not yet. However, we have been invited by @ASTG to fly a payload on their hybrid #ispida rocket at @euroc_pt this year, and we would never say no to such an opportunity. Thanks for having us!
As the launch date is approaching, members of our #s2outh project have arrived in Portugal, and are preparing our video and telemetry system - "the cube" - for integration.

A small video camera is visibly mounted towards the front, and an antenna is sticking out the top. A red label reading "WÜSPACE x ASTG" is hanging off the right side. The cube is placed on a ledge of a boulder, with solid rock filling the background.Group of 5 students standing behind a big blue "EUROC" signGroup photo of 9 students, wearing either ASTG or WüSpace merchandise. This week we visited #dlrk, a german aerospace congress. Alongside our friends at #warr, #auxspace, #erig, #sprog, and #ksat, we got to connect with actors in the german aerospace sector, and showed how students can participate in the field.
Huge thanks to #dglr for inviting us!

Have you seen Sunday’s lunar eclipse?
Our telescope did. And it captured this stunning shot of the Moon cloaked in deep red, just as happens during a lunar eclipse.
Because the photo was taken shortly after sunset, the air was still shimmering with heat, creating subtle distortions you can spot if you look closely.

WüSpace goes Wacken 🤘
We have been part of the SpaceCamp at #Wacken, as part of the #DGLR! Besides showing a lot of metalheads what student aerospace is all about, we got to meet ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst, many other actors in the german space sector, and our friends from BEARS, KSat, WARR, ERIG, and SPROG.

Huge thanks to #WackenOpenAir and #DGLR (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Luft- und Raumfahrt) for having us. You rock! 🫶

S²OUTH is a project developing a modern and reliable telemetry system. Its capabilities include collecting and processing of sensory and telemetry data, transferring data to the ground as well as streaming live video.

It is being developed in cooperation with the student team HyEnD from Stuttgart for usage in their N₂ORTH hybrid propellant rocket.

The KI-SENS project's space debris observation telescope can do more than tracking orbital objects - it also can be used for astrophotography.
Here’s a stunning image of the Horsehead Nebula. This composite image was created by stacking exposures captured through S-II, O-III, IR-pass, and H-alpha filters, with a total exposure time of 80 minutes.

What are we planning to do with these? 🤔

Our project S²OUTH is currently in a phase of rapid development, and we will need these bottles rather soon. We will post more updates over the following days.
Meanwhile, you can check out our project website at south.wuespace.de

With the past year having seen a plethora of transphobic and homophobic hate, with queer people being used as political scapegoats, it is with even more commitment that we celebrate this year's Pride Month and stand in solidarity with those who face discrimination simply for being who they are.

We will continue to work hard towards ensuring that WüSpace can be a safe space for everyone passionate about aerospace.
