This interactive map can show you (1) near real time weather observations and (2) hour-by-hour forecasts from NOAA for various weather parameters including wind chill, snow, freezing rain and sleet.
Colors on the map show where NOAA has posted weather watches/warnings. Dark purple shows where NOAA has posted an ice storm warning. NOAA’s servers are very busy so this data might take 20-30 seconds to appear. If that data still does not appear you can try zooming in or reloading the map.
Each arrow on the map is a clickable METAR weather station. Click an arrow and follow the link for near real time weather observations. One pic shows this data for the airport near downtown Shreveport Louisiana where there has already been some freezing rain.
Another pic shows NOAA’s hour-by-hour forecast for Shreveport. The first graph includes a line with the wind chill forecast. The last three graphs show the forecast for snow, freezing rain and sleet. To see this forecast for any location:
1. Open the map.
2. Right click anywhere. Mobile users: Tap the angle symbol at the left edge of the screen. Drag the crosshair to where you want the forecast and then tap the crosshair. Tap the angle symbol again to close the crosshair.
3. In the sidebar that appears, click ‘Hourly forecast’.
