Some members of the fediverse have some ... #unreasonable behaviours. If it only affects them, that's fine. But when they're aggressively bothering others, it's a problem. They're the #scolds that jump on posts, frequently those new to the #fediverse, giving forceful instructions about their #behaviour.
#Demanding strangers add content warnings to posts mentioning subjects that bother you is not #reasonable. It's like walking up to someone you don't know in a coffee shop and demanding they turn their laptop screen away from you because you don't like the article they're reading or the email they're writing. Some people on the receiving end of this behaviour will accommodate such #demands, just to avoid the conflict -- but you should not be surprised, or offended, if you get a harsher response telling you to mind your own damn business.
It's similar for people demanding others add alt-text to images. I do it. Lots of people do. But the people who don't add alt text don't owe anybody anything. You demanding they spend their time doing something because you want it, not because they want to, is simply not reasonable behaviour.
This scares people away from the community - justifiably, because it's #aggressive, #unsolicited, unwanted criticism.
This happens in other spheres, too. As a Free Software author, I sometimes get email from people demanding I implement a feature or change a behaviour to suit their preferences.
Please don't be like this.
Oh yay, sales tactics are escalating!
First I got emails (at work) from random software vendors saying “blah-blah-blah. Let me know if we can have a call to discuss.”
Then over time this moved to “blah-blah-blah. Does 1pm on Wed work for you to discuss?”
And more recently, it’s moved to actually sending me unsolicited meeting requests.
(not the same vendor, different random ones, but still)
What next, waiting for me at my car in my office parking lot?!

As we may know:
- #Email used to be #free from most #ISP. No longer. :ablobcatcoffee:
- On #Linux most of knew how to set up a Linux 'app' e.g. #Claws, #Thunderbird etc
- Everyone started using email services to cut out mega #spam, and #unsolicited #trash
- many of us (well me at least) have forgotten how to set up an email app
- I have a securish email account but they want to charge for basic options, such as redirect from a #Linux service
So now:
I have Thegood.cloud service running on my server/desktop. BUT unless I take a paid... notice that word 'paid' for 'service' to include email, I am stuck. Protonmail want money. Registered URL '$ervice$' want money. And so on ad infinitum $$$
Not all of us have money, credit cards, #ID etc. And also we only have so much time and memory available to fiddle about with passwords, settings and so on. :ablobcatbongokeyboard:

Attention, #charities:
If you make #unsolicited #robot phone calls to me in an attempt to get me to #donate to your organization, then no matter how much I am positively disposed towards your org and your mission, I will not be #donating to you. Even if I've donated to you in the past.
