What a madhouse of a conference. Looking forward to next year with #IPv6 only on the conference wifi. (I was on legacy-only eduroam from the hosting university for most of the conference).

Und weil wir gerade das Thema wireguard hatten: ich sitze ja hinter einem cgnat, was das reverse proxying schon anspruchsvoll macht. Bin eigentlich immer über nen ssh tunnel ausgebrochen ;). Hab heute mal auf wireguard umgestellt. Gefühlt 300% Performance Steigerung 🙈

IPAM: IP Address Management - Docker's subnet allocation system
Subnet: Address range (e.g., fdXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::/64)
ULA: Unique Local Address (fd00::/8) - private IPv6 like 192.168.x.x for IPv4

Valid point. The mastodon.social instance already seems to support inbound IPv6: https://en.internet.nl/site/mastodon.social/3738895/#siteipv6
However, for actual interaction and federation via IPv6 outbound support is needed as well and the latter indeed seems to be missing. Hopefully they can fix this.

Hi @MastodonEngineering and @staff, I'm on mastodon.social and would love to follow @bwb@ipv6.camp, but I can't because his instance is IPv6-only. Is there any chance that mastodon.social could support federation with IPv6-only instances in the near future? This would improve federation for everyone. Thanks for your time!

I keep coming across programs that still prefer IPv4 even when a viable #IPv6 path is available. Part of me wants to file bug reports to get them to follow the spec. The other part of me just finds a way to return an IPv6-only record for the thing I want to talk to and it usually works.

There are still some issues with domain names/geo data for Norway, Iceland, and the newly added countries, but….

I wanted to have #IPv6 addresses for my #OpenBSD vmm virtual machines for quite some time. I never realized how easy it is until I discovered how easy it is.

- Enable and configure dhcp6leased
- Enable and configure rad
- Restart the VMs
- Enjoy

Finally optimized #Network #Speed for my #IPv6 Tunnels with 1420 for #Wireguard and 1365 or #IPsec .

@RichiH @fosdem The people running the FOSDEM fosstodon.org account might come to a surprise that there is no AAAA DNS record. Given that so much of the internet still relies on IPv4 is detrimental for the open source community (financial barriers, reduced self hosting, ...). #IPv6
