Another (second) release of siltamesh, my simple bridge between XMPP and the meshtastic network.
Reliability has been improved, and now you can store the received locations of local mesh nodes. The locations can even be displayed online with @umap, a great OSM-based online map.

Years ago I started with just this scrap piece of paper and sketched these main #Adelaide intersections in the 1840s.
This evolved into digital #historicalMapping using #uMap (which makes all the work look easy) and #mapWarper. I've now geolocated 257 works with latitude, longitude and view bearing.
I recently added the Victorian diggings 1852 to the maps.

After a lot of hours and trial and error, I've managed to create a digital interactive version of the Down Survey map for County Kilkenny on #uMap: http://u.osmfr.org/m/1340327/ using #Wikidata. Many thanks to all the people who have created #SPARQL queries for me in the past - I was able to modify some of them for this purpose. It doesn't have all the parishes and all the castles, but I actually discovered some unrecorded (by the NMS) watermills (not included...) and castles along the way. 😇

#StateLibraryNSW has a surprisingly large number of South Australian colonial artworks. I've finished updating SLNSW links to their new catalogue from my #S_T_Gill project. This includes my maps of 1840s #SouthAustralia and #Adelaide which are now practically complete. Mapping using #uMap (OpenStreetMap).

I found some weird things when calling both #Rstats and #python libraries for #UMAP using {reticulate}. I *think* it has something to do with how c++ libraries, or whatever numerical libraries are used deep down, are linked but I've reached the limits of my statistical computer science literacy.

I’d like to create an uMap of my upcoming “Winterrail 2025/26” trip, but I don’t want to draw a straight polyline from one stop to the other, I would like it to follow the railway, as I am travelling by train.
Nevertheless, when I open the dialog to select the means of transportation to trace a path following a route, there is no “public transport” option…
How did you manage to do it in your Cross-Border Rail map, @jon? 🤔
