#tic80

Made a collage! Thanks to @w4v3 for the idea.

This was a fun month! I used #tic80, plenty of #p5js, #glsl, #blender3d, and some #html.

I really enjoyed the variety of the #genuary prompts – does someone know how they are collected/picked?

A grid with many colorful pictures. In the corner, it says "blinry's Genuary 2026".

Created with @godotengine using my little #tic80 inspired API.

#genuary Day 17: "Wallpaper group"

These are a family of symmetry groups, and I'd love to learn all about them!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallpape

I tried to implement the p3 group, but something glitched out. However, these imperfections are adding a really nice quality to the result, so I decided to just leave it like that. :)

I added font rendering and transforms to my little #tic80 inspired API.

Any #GameDev folks have any experience working with both #playdate and #pico8 (and/or #tic80 fantasy console)? I’m curious if anyone has first-hand experience with trying to work on a project with shared #lua code that works in both environments but has each using its own resources for input handling, graphics, and sound.

Specifically looking for tips, best practices, learned experience, etc.

I just started implementing a #tic80 inspired API for Godot. Maybe I can soon start my #genuary2026. 😅

#genuary Day 9: "Crazy automaton"

Made an explorer for "elementary cellular automata"!

By moving the mouse, you can change the Wolfram code (which defines, in bits, a table for how to compute a pixel from the previous line).

This also was the first time I've tried the #fennel language – a Lisp that compiles to Lua! #tic80 has several of these niche little languages built-in! <3

#genuary Day 5: Write “Genuary”. Avoid using a font.

#genuary Day 4: "Lowres"

#tic80 is already pretty low resolution, so… let's go lower, I guess!

Had a lot of fun with this one – so many parameters to tweak! :D

#genuary Day 2: "Twelve principles of animation"

I played around with the principles of anticipation and exaggeration here.

Time for #genuary! I really love the prompts each year, see genuary.art/prompts for the full list.

The first prompt is "One color, one shape" – here's my li'l #tic80 sketch, based on the Pythagorean tiling.

Particles system made water effect on #TIC80 in #Lua

Cursor send some water drop in direction/speed of its movment, and this make ripples on the water.
  • Drops get the initial direction/speed of the mouse cursor, slow down horizontally (friction) and are attracted vertically. z value it randomly created at start.
  • When a drop reach the water it start a ripple particle, and destroy itself. The ripple size depend on drop vertical speed and has a slight horizontal move depending on drop x speed, color decrease depending on lifetime of the particle .

Portable 3d editor in #Lua on #TIC80, will probably do a #LÖVE2D and/or #raylib+lua version ? The goal is to have a simple editor that work on any device even without GL/GLES/Vulkan acceleration, could work fine on ESP32 like devices.

Now 3 standard front/right/top + 3D isometric, will do later a vanishing point perspective view. Not the more complexe, but not the more usefull either for a modeler. Priorities are:
  • selection by surface
  • zoom/rotate lines and after that surfaces.
  • mouse extrusion
  • add more objects (currently square and extruded n faces polygone only.
  • 4 views together
Later: bones, surface, textures

Coded in #Lua on #tic80

And now, some basic 3d tests, with 3 projections, 3D iso, top, left (right?) :)

Needed some invert projections to manage the original model. Still doesn't use matrix, that's more light computation, but less standard.

A fun @FieldFX Monday Night Bytes session.

I'm in a UK-normative seasonal mood.. so even though we've had no snow yet this month, I had a crack at a snowflake generator.

MNB is such a joy. Great to see people experiment, and always lovely to have a new joiner!

#Lua #TIC80 #Vector

The program allow now to move dots or lines and the two dots it links. There are screen cliping for dots alone, still to implement a good way for lines
