Sxmo: Simple X Mobile on PinePhone

Hey Stu, Unfortunately I haven't used them in a long while. When I did I had PMOS Edge with #SXMO running on them. Calls were a hit and miss affair but data and browsing certainly worked well enough. I'm kind of closely watching the Fairphone 5 just now as it is really close to becoming the near perfect Linux mobile.
I think I have a phone addiction. Am I constantly on my smartphone
doomscrolling news/socials? Not at all, I often leave the thing untouched for days and don't have traditional social media. Am I constantly chattering on various calls racking up the phone bill? Nope, 5 minutes calltime a month is probably already a gross overestimate. Glued to my phone in public transport? No, I look out the window. Then what is the problem? I keep buying second hand phones to try #postmarketos and #sxmo on !!

Ich bin auf dem Linux Handy jetzt von Plasma Mobile auf #sxmo umgestiegen nachdem sich das ganze doch als ein bisschen ZU instabil erwiesen hat. Bisher schlägt sich SXMO deutlich besser... mal schauen wie es über die nächsten paar Tage aussieht. Ansonsten kann ich nur sagen, dass ich ein vollwertiges Betriebssystem auf dem Handy echt nicht mehr missen möchte.

The sxmo stickers have arrived and they fit perfectly with my Fairphone 4 slim case.
@kaibojens ich hatte das erste Jollaphone für neun Jahre, mir hat damals nix gefehlt im Vergleich zu Android/Apple. Inzwischen hätte ich lieber #postmarketos mit #sxmo, aber da fehlt doch einiges (Anrufen und Kamera...). Bin gespannt auf das neue #Jolla, vielleicht ist dass meine "nächste neun Jahre" Zwischenlösung bis @signalapp und @glsbank einsehen das ihre Apps auch auf Linux laufen sollten - sind die einzigen beiden die ich eigentlich brauche.

@postmarketos systemd seem to have some issues with flatpaks on different DE. Seems confirmed atleast on sxmo-de-sway sxmo-de-dwm and lxqt.
Looks like the issue is around ambient capabilities. This was fixed in #phosh upstream so systemd phosh pmos probably never ran into this issue. Seems like the fix phosh implemented is to drop it on start up so we might want to do something similar to other DEs.

People running totally locked-down systems (android and ios) and complaining #meshcore official app is freemium make me laugh !
They should explore really free alternatives to their pile of shit

Well, the update did not go too bad, but I had audio issues (not good on a phone) in the end I prefered to get a clean state and wiped everything
Things work nice again ... I could port most of my hooks and scripts and I feel at home
the *only* interface on a linux phone that i have ever resonated with is #SXMO. it is, bluntly, the alpine of phone interfaces.
but i need slack, 1password, banking apps, etc.
