Сжатие изображений в #PNG через #pngquant не всегда удачно и без последствий. Надо внимательно и вкрадчиво проверять результат. Порой убирает полутона в самых неподходящих местах, уродуя или солидно меняя блики\отсветы на поверхностях.

#pngquant is a lossy #PNG optimizer.

pngquant intelligently reduces the color depth of PNG images to greatly decrease the filesize of an image. pngquant uses dithering to make color reduction as seemless as possible. In many cases pngquant can create visually identical files with a quarter of the size or smaller. PNG files made by pngquant are fully standards compliant.

A #bash script I wrote that will compress all #png files in a folder in place (and deleting the original files) using #pngquant
pngquant *.png && find . -iregex ".*png" -not -iregex ".*-fs8.*" -exec rm {} \; && rename 's/-fs8//' *.png
What do you think of this script? #linux #gnu
If you want to keep the original files, copy them into another folder before doing this command. This has been very useful for me when I have had lots of PNG files to compress.
