I updated my Netgate 2100 to the 24.11 release candidate. No hiccups in that process. I also enabled automatic DNS registration in Kea and it works as expected. #pfSense #pfSensePlus

Short service toot for anyone interested: #pfSense released a new version of #pfSenseCE 2.7 based on #FreeBSD 14 like the plus-23.x releases. After the release of #pfSensePlus 23.01 it became clear that a few more patches were necessary so CE was pushed back a bit to release after the patch release 23.05 and that was a good decision.
Yesterday together with the new CE release also came a bugfix release for #pfSensePlus 23.05.1

Kurzer Hinweis an alle Interessierten: #pfsense hat nun für #pfSenseCE (wie vorausgesagt) die Version 2.7 auf Basis von #FreeBSD 14 abgeliefert nachdem es nach dem Release von #pfSensePlus 23.01 noch einigen Bedarf an Fixes gab und man bis zum Release der 23.05 gewartet hatte. Besser war das auch!
Gleichzeitig kam dann auch nochmal ein kleines Plus Bugfix Release: #pfSensePlus 23.05.1
Damit sind die beiden Versionen bis auf einige wenige Features wieder auf dem selben Stand. Wie vorhergesagt.

It’s been almost 1 year, 4 months since the last #pfsense release. As suspected, #pfSensePlus has priority and is expected to have its second update of 2023 soon. Not even a 2.6.1 update to move from PHP 7.4 to 8.1.

This is ridiculous and negligent. Security devices require support and updates. If #Netgate has no intention of supporting pfSense CE, then they need to responsibly discontinue the project!

Haha looks like DNS Resolver stops working from time to time on #PfSensePlus 23.01 🤦🏻‍♂️

No error in the logs or something. Just not resolving requests…

@case2tv Yeah, had thoughts on moving to #OPNsense, also because of the #pfSensePlus things going on by #Netgate.
Maybe I'm going to migrate later this year.
