On a gravel road, a frozen ghost of a maple leaf, white and delicate. One brown small curled leaf beside the ghost emphasises the size of the maple one.

As we slowly say goodbye to #summer I remind myself in times of distress or conflict, that I had this moment not so long ago. Taken from within a small cottage/loft on #Erie in #Ontario the window reminded me of a 3D photo frame. Snapped on my phone that day, having a nap and taking time to read.

The photo shows a striking close-up of a spiky, red cluster of seed pods from a castor bean plant (Ricinus communis). The vivid red spikes stand out sharply against a softly blurred background of a garden landscape. My recent #roadtrip through #rural #Ontario was done with a few ideas in mind, but #abandonedhomes and #ruraldecay are always what I'm after.

The #travelphotography I perform doesn't offer me a lot of opportunity to talk with locals, so I can't be certain of their local history, their story. Maybe something for another day.
