#nobuild

2025-12-15

The #lowbuild principle:

Minimal dependencies. Maximum leverage.

One build tool that solves a real problem, with escape hatches that scale to your needs.

#nobuild is ideological. #lowbuild is pragmatic.

2025-12-15

🌶️ #nobuild is a solo developer philosophy masquerading as universal advice.

The append-only CSS problem that drove teams to Tailwind? Nobuild doesn't solve it. It ignores it.

Let me make the case for #lowbuild instead...

#nobuild can work for solo devs or small disciplined teams. You know your codebase. You can keep CSS lean through sheer will.

But teams of 5, 10, 20 with varying frontend experience? You need guardrails. You need something that makes the wrong thing hard.

2025-12-15

The reason your team's CSS file is tens of thousands of lines isn't because you used a build tool. It's because nobody knows what's safe to delete. That's a *coordination* problem. #nobuild doesn't fix coordination; it just gives you the same mess with more View Source pride.

@bw Too bad I don’t do PHP anymore. But I have been on the #nobuild, #nobundle journey as well. My findings: mastrojs.github.io/guide/bundl

Does that jibe with what you’ve observed? Did you find any benchmarks with HTTP/3 ?

🚀 Just simplified the #frontend workflow of my #django project template, with the #nobuild approach and the #vendoring of CSS/JS dependencies.

More details in an upcoming blog post soon. codeberg.org/David-Guillot/dja

"It ain'nt much but it's honest work"

#borkweb #babashkas first fullstack web framework reached 100 Stars at github! Amazing! Thank you all for your appreciation.

Let's make it even better and more accessible for all the people to come. #borkweb is easy to use and low friction and supports an whole clojuresqe workflow without switching context. Its all just clojure on the backend and the frontend. And the best part is that it is intended to have no buildsteps included. #nobuild

Grab #babashka and build your webapp.

My esteemed followers, you have posted a total of 375,809 statuses to the #fediverse. 22% of you have posted in the last 24h. You are a chatty bunch! ;-)

Check out my new #sideproject: *fedi-followers*. A privacy-friendly fediverse #followers explorer as #localonly #staticwebapp, decentrally hosted on the #ipfs. See who's actually following (and unfollowing) you over time and much more.

I've built a thing.

Sometimes my follower count seemingly fluctuates at random. To understand why, I dug into the #MastodonAPI and created "fedi-followers":

A privacy-friendly #fediverse #followers explorer as local-only static web app, decentrally hosted on the #ipfs. See who's actually following (and unfollowing) you over time and much more.

@zachleat @scott

more like they wanted to release a series of products with "#NoBuild" and wanted to use importmaps, :has, webp images, and a few other things and not want to have to worry about graceful degradation or anything.

Strongly recommend that you watch this video.

This Keynote by DHH is less about Rails and more about how the web application ecosystem must be.

Our setup is #nobuild. We wrote vanilla CSS and only used JavaScript where necessary. This approach helps future-proof the site, avoiding layers of frameworks and endless updates. Writing in vanilla CSS feels amazing!

We’ve added RSS and Atom feeds for blog and changelog updates—perfect if you prefer tracking content in your RSS reader over a web browser.

What do you expect from a fullstack web framework #babashka #clojure #webdev #nobuild #simpleweb #borkweb

2024-10-26

My current concept of trying to implement hot reload for cljs files in #borkweb is

1. Long Polling to listen for changes
2. Using core.async channels and babashka file watcher to listen for changes on cljs files.
3. Client side code javascript.info/long-polling like this.

and either trying to just create a new script tag so that the browser reloads or just calling eval or forcing the browser to reload. What do you think? #babashka #clojure #webdev #nobuild

2024-10-16

I would like to grow our #borkweb community that's why i encourage all people in the fediverse to push the #borkweb. We have already 65 amazing stars at github and contributions in a really short time. But can we reach 100? Post stuff all over the place and maybe write articles if you like where we are heading. #borkweb aims to be the #rails like framework for #clojure and #babashka. Start small, go big, be simple. #nobuild #webdev #simpleweb #opensource #solodeveloper #framework borkweb.org

Good news everyone #borkweb has now support for simple text mails! html will come soon. Furthermore we have now added to all generated js code the corresponding cljs file reference in a comment at the end. so that users can lookup the code if they like #openweb As always works with #babashka and jvm #clojure #simpleweb #nobuild
