Legendary rocker
#Bruce #Springsteen delivered an impassioned condemnation of the Trump administration's immigration enforcement
during a surprise 75-minute performance Saturday night
at the "Light of Day" benefit concert in Red Bank, New Jersey.

Springsteen dedicated his 1978 anthem "The Promised Land" to #Renee #Nicole #Good, a mother of three and American citizen who was fatally shot by ICE officer Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis on January 7.

The singer slammed the administration's
"#gestapo #tactics" and echoed Democratic Minneapolis Mayor #Jacob #Frey's call for ICE agents to leave the city, telling the sold-out crowd of approximately 1,500 at the Count Basie Center for the Arts that
💯 "ICE should get the f*** out of Minneapolis," according to video viewed from the concert.

New polling indicates that
✅a majority of Americans believe the killing of Minneapolis resident #Renee #Nicole #Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent
💥was not justified, and
💥do not trust the federal government to conduct its own investigation into the matter.

A CNN/SSRS poll published on Wednesday shows that
👉 52 percent of Americans believe that the Trump administration’s efforts to deport “immigrants living in the United States illegally” have gone too far.
In a separate question,
👉58 percent of Americans said they disapprove of Donald Trump’s performance on the issue of #immigration,
👉while only 42 percent said they approve
— a -16-point net approval rating,
⭐️which is a 19-point swing from his +3-point net approval from the start of the year.

State and local leaders say
💥they do not believe that the #FBI #investigation of the shooting death of #Renee #Nicole #Good will be fair and impartial,

-- and are sounding alarms about the impact of federal officials
🆘 holding onto evidence in a potential prosecution of the ICE agent who killed her.

Minnesota’s lead investigative agency,
the "Bureau of Criminal Apprehension" ( #BCA ),
initially began investigating the shooting in conjunction with the FBI.

But the BCA issued a statement Thursday morning saying that
“the US attorney’s office had reversed course:
the investigation would now be led solely by the FBI,
and the BCA would no longer have access to the case materials,
scene evidence or investigative interviews necessary to complete a thorough and independent investigation”.

Hennepin county attorney
#Mary #Moriarty,
an elected Democrat and the county’s prosecutor, clarified at a press conference Friday that
the BCA
– which was established in 1927
– has a very high investigative standard
💥and that this standard can’t be met when the organization doesn’t have access to all the evidence.
It does not preclude an investigation, she said.
But a lack of access to evidence hampers the investigation.

“When the BCA came to the scene,
the evidence had been taken by the FBI,” she said.
“They collected the car and took it wherever the BCA does not have access to the car.
And the problem isn’t that the FBI took the car,
it’s that the BCA doesn’t have access to the car, or right now,
even access to the #forensic #evaluation that happens as a result of the investigation with that car.”

Hennepin county attorney #Mary #Moriarty, an elected Democrat and the county’s prosecutor, clarified at a press conference Friday that the BCA
– which was established in the wake of the George Floyd case
– has a very high investigative standard and that this standard
can’t be met when the organization doesn’t have access to all the evidence.
It does not preclude an investigation, she said.
But a lack of access to evidence hampers the investigation.

“When the BCA came to the scene, the evidence had been taken by the FBI,” she said.

In a press conference on Friday, the Minneapolis mayor, #Jacob #Frey, described the federal government’s narrative casting Good as the villain as “#garbage” and called on the state to conduct its own investigation.

“This is a time to follow the law,” he said.
“This is not a time to hide from the facts.
This is a time to embrace them,
making sure that we’re pushing for transparency every step of the way.”

“The fact that Pam Bondi’s Department of Justice and this presidential administration has already come to a conclusion about those facts is deeply concerning,” he added.
Media reports have identified the agent who shot Good as Jonathan Ross. ICE agents allowed Ross to #leave the scene in the moments after the shooting, taking the weapon used in the shooting with him.
“It doesn’t preclude a state investigation, but if the feds are saying, for example, you don’t even get to look at the firearm that was used to kill this person, that would certainly complicate it,”
said #Eric J #Nelson, a defense attorney in Minneapolis with a long record of defending police officers accused of crimes.
Nelson represented Derek Chauvin in his murder trial for killing Floyd.

The legal standard for proving a case of excessive force rests on the
🔹“objective reasonableness” of the act as given in the
🔹"Graham v Connor" case decided by the US supreme court in 1989.

From that case flows policies governing when and how police officers can use force.
The standards are essentially the same for both state and federal prosecutions, he said.

The breakdown in cooperation between state and federal agencies in this investigation is “shocking”, Nelson said,
and flies in the face of the public’s expectations of legal norms.

“There may be political differences, but ultimately in a question in a case like this, I don’t really think politics should have a place,” he said.

The mayor of Portland, Oregon told Immigration and Customs Enforcement to ✅leave the city
after federal agents shot and wounded two people on Thursday,
just a day after an ICE agent killed 37-year-old #Renee #Nicole #Good in Minneapolis.
“We cannot sit by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed mounts,”
Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said in a statement.
♦️"Portland is not a ‘training ground’ for militarized agents,
and the ‘full force’ threatened by the administration has deadly consequences.
💥As mayor, I call on ICE to end all operations in Portland until a full investigation can be completed.”

The shooting took place Thursday afternoon during what the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) described as a
“targeted vehicle stop” conducted by Border Patrol agents.
Echoing its narrative about the deadly Minneapolis shooting
—which was contradicted by video footage from the scene
—DHS said the driver “weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents.”
But Wilson said Thursday that 💯the Trump administration could not be trusted to provide an accurate account of events or conduct an honest investigation.
“We know what the federal government says happened here,” said Wilson.
“There was a time when we could take them at their word. ⭐️That time has long passed.”
The man and woman shot by Border Patrol agents were reportedly married, and both were taken to a nearby hospital.
Neither their identities nor their conditions were immediately made public.
Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield said late Thursday that his office was investigating the shooting to determine
“whether any federal officer acted outside the scope of their lawful authority.”
“We have been clear about our concerns with the excessive use of force by federal agents in Portland,
⚠️and today’s incident only heightens the need for transparency and accountability,” said Rayfield.
“Oregonians deserve clear answers when people are injured in their neighborhoods.”
The shootings in Minneapolis and Portland were hardly the first time federal immigration officers have used deadly force during Donald Trump’s lawless mass deportation campaign.
The Marshall Project noted earlier this week that 🔥“federal officers have fatally shot at least three other people in the last five months.”
“Agents have also shot other people,” The Marshall Project added.
“The Trace, the nonprofit news organization covering gun violence, has counted more than a dozen such shootings.
In some cases, the victims survived, including a woman who suffered multiple bullet wounds in an incident in Chicago in October.
🆘The Border Patrol officer who shot her appeared to brag about it in a text message, later presented in court evidence.
The message reportedly read,
👉 ‘I fired 5 rounds, and she had 7 holes. Put that in your book boys.’”

The ICE agent who murdered 37-year-old Minneapolis mum
#Renee #Nicole #Good has been identified – His name is
#Jonathan #David #Ross,
a decade-long ICE enforcer.
obscured as he left the scene. It has also declined to answer press enquiries.
David Ross’s murder of Good
– in full view of outraged neighbours filming it
– has sparked protests inn Minneapolis and across the US.
The city’s mayor, #Jacob #Frey, said during a press conference yesterday:
⭐️To ICE: get the fuck out of Minneapolis.

🆘The Trump regime continues to try to #whitewash and even #exploit the murder of Renee by David Ross.
Kristy Noem described the victim as a domestic terrorist
and White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt claimed Good died because of a “sinister, left-wing movement that has spread across our country.”
⚠️The FBI has refused to allow Minneapolis law enforcement to investigate the murder.
In a press conference about the killing of Renee Good,
Noem referred to another incident involving the same agent last year
– and gave away enough detail that David Ross could be identified from court records.
The June 2025 incident occurred in Bloomington, Minnesota, when Ross and other agents stopped Mexican citizen #Roberto #Munoz-#Guatemala.
When Munoz-Guatemala ignored the agents order to fully wind down his window
– something that US residents are not obliged to do under US law, Ross broke open the car’s rear window and reached inside to unlock the door.
DHS has refused to disclose the identity of the killer, who was seen in footage of the murder pulling up a scarf to ensure his face was covered
