As it turns out, there was a third reason for #Perseverance to go into that dead end: to help planners test the use of VLM (visual-language model) in planning a route on Mars.
The results remain to be seen. It probably isn't a proof of anything, but at that time I was expecting the rover to keep on driving and reach Lac De Charmes before the solar conjunction. Instead, it progressed too little. But I guess there's no rush, now that the #MSR mission is dead.

Sadly, it seems that nothing will be the same for the rover from now on. After #NASA ditched the Mars Sample Return (#MSR) mission, the #Mars2020 mission may now be forced to revise their plans, considering the possibility of further budgetary cuts, since the mission's end game is now cancelled.

We knew this was coming since the #Biden administration started massive cuts of #JPL and contractor jobs in order to pour money into the pockets of billionaires through what it euphemistically called "space economy".
Interestingly, neither this nor any other article in mainstream media seems to consider the money budgeted for #NASA that will now flow into billionaire owned companies of any interest to their readership, so they do not bother reporting it.

A little late to the industrial heating space; but this company seems to have cutting edge electrolyzer tech, which aligns well with #TMSR tech. Petrochemical companies like Dow have infiltrated the arena via buying X-Energy - mentioned in this video - so fossil fuels has an inside track on weaponizing hard Thorium fuels, as opposed to the near impossible liquid Thorium transition to weapons grade Plutonium.
