And I'm shure @fuchsiii could easily make something like the "Windows XP Tour" just with #HTML5 + #JS6 + #CSS3 and then ship it in like a self-contained #AppImage-style executeable!

@ciourte @netopwibby Needless to say I've only heard of some Spanish low-cost #MVNO offering one device only in a #prepaid #bundle when #FirefoxOS was unveiled at the #MWC in #Barcelona based off coverage in @ct_Magazin at the time.

Cuz I remember #WebDevs like @fuchsiii really loving it because it was the then hot & fresh #HTML5 + #JS6 + #CSS3 combo to make it super-easy to do #Apps. All one needs to build an app was #Firefox as Browser and the ability to basically zip' it.

Alas @Mozilla deciding on purpose to literally splinter the market by letting #MNO|s and MVNOs run their #AppStore|s instead of a #centralized model, making the situation worse than in the "P.R." #China where there are several vendor-independent #AppStores for #Android.

"Conspiracy Theorists" even suggested that this was deliberate self-sabotage to benefit #Google and #Android, tho needless to say Firefox OS aimed at devices & specs that were too low for Android.

Still, I'm #StillMad at #Mozilla for faceplanting Firefox OS cuz it had the easiest way to get started and a good architecture being every #App is just a #WebApp and all the system calls were standard #HTML5 permissions and nothing fancy.

@Linux @breadcat @tertle950 the Problem ain't web standards, far from it!

@torproject / #TorBroeser per default can do all the fancy #HTML5 / #CSS3 / #JS6 stuff anyone wants because it's just #Firefox with #Tor bolted into the inlet & exhaust.

The only issue I can see are assholes blocking Tor and that is IMHO illegal and beeds to be penalized...

Unter anderem weil's nicht einfach glorifizierte Shortcuts sind, sondern auch lokal gespeicherte Daten sind und alles als #HTML5 + #JS6 + #CSS3 - Struktur aufgebaut ist, inklusive zentraler #Apps wie Telefonie und Taschenrechner.

Das erlaubt ein sehr sauberes und durchaus flinkes System und die Möglichkeit, alle System-Apps nach bedarf zu restylen und so Dinge wie #Verschlüsselung bei #SMS transparent umzusetzen.

Damit sind Lösungen alla TextSecure trivialst nativ integrierbar...

@Ariri unless you want custom-engineer your own #Markdown -> #LaTeX -> #Ghostscript pipeline like @fuchsiii did, consider #MkDocs as an easy solution to turn Markdown files into sleek #documentation with minimal configuration needed.

I've set it up multiple times and by just changing the docs_dir to like source and the site_dir to docs you can use #GithubPages for #hosting said #documentation...

That should provide you with an easy way to present stuff in an intuitive way...

Also proper #documentation is nice and Markdown is very easy to write and edit with Editors like #Codium a direct & instant preview.

I myself can't he assed writing #HTML5 / #CSS3 / #JS6 or wahtever #cursed #WebApp #TechStack is trendy tthese days so I use #MkDocs all the time...

@hexaheximal@blob.cat @esm @hexaheximal@wetdry.world ...and even if we think local #WebApps are a legitimate way to handle sensitive comms - they ain't but let's just assume they are for the sake of argument - WHY would you do anything beyond a .desktop file that includes startup parameters for #Firefox (or even #Chrome if you're that kind of Cyber-Masochist!) that specify the browser, and the file to load.

Because any good #WebApp should be reduceable as #HTML5 + #JS6 + #CSS3 and measured in kB or maybe a few MB.
