@DaAnda @heiseonline Einen hab ich noch (weil wir's hier grad von hatten) 🙂 : Ein Träumchen wäre es, wenn das Standardpackage einer Agentur beim Rundrum einer Website nicht per default #GoogleAnalytics etc. enthalten würde, sondern datenschutzkonformere Tools wie #Matomo etc. Dass also die Tools der #Datenkraken nur auf konkrete Nachfrage / bei echtem Bedarf eingebunden werden würden.
Das hätte auch von vornherein die #CookieBannerFlut eindämmen können.
Und das wäre eine Agentur, die ich gerne empfehlen und als Markführer sehen würde. 😉

A single day where a site that normally gets a couple dozen hits a day suddenly gets 8000 in 24 hours.

But not to a single URL, as you'd expect from natural traffic, but to an endless long tail of URLs, as you'd expect from a scraper. Notice the bottom right, where there are 5058 total URLs that were visited that day.

GA is failing to identify a shameless scraper 🫠

2/* Worth noting that I'm seeing a correlated plummeting of engagement and increase in bounce rate on affected sites.

So it seems to be recording a huge amount of traffic that lasts basically 0 seconds, never triggers an event, and never clicks a second link.

It feels like GA has lost it in the face of 2025's automation onslaught 😖

Anyone else seeing huge spikes of illegitimate traffic in their Q4 2025 Google Analytics results?

Doing my quarterly stats and it's goddamn broken. Smaller sites are seeing 10-30x increases in traffic, but when digging in, it's hidden in huge spikes where every URL is visited twice followed by normal patterns otherwise.

Normally GA filters this kind of traffic out, seems like some bot is failing to be filtered. Result: Stats are useless! 😱
