Logged the requisite maneuvers with my safety pilot spouse. I should only need to fly IFR to GRB; from there my wife can get use home.
The ForeFlight digital approach charts are a delight to use, BTW. Everything is laid out better and it’s much faster to take in during flight.

TEC routes have always been a bit mysterious to me since we don’t have them in the midwest.
In preparation for an upcoming flight, today I completed an instrument proficiency check (IPC). In a bit over an hour in the air, I did:
1. A VOR approach (ANE VOR 9);
2. A partial-panel ILS approach to minimums (200') (ANE ILS 27);
3. Unusual attitude recovery;
4. A GPS approach with a hold, circling (500') to a landing (MIC RNAV/GPS 14 CTL 32).
I was busy, but I flew well (no autopilot). It felt good to get back into the system and to still be able to do a difficult thing.
We’re headed to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for Airventure 2024. Looking forward to a week of camping with friends, airplanes, and relaxing.

The #eclipse was super fun; we’re glad we came. I got to sit in the right seat while my wife did all the flying and I managed comms. She’s become a HUGE fan of the #autopilot. #flyga #eclipse2024
It looks like if we fly to HOT to see the #eclipse, we’ll not only not see the eclipse (broken 1,500’), but we’ll be trapped there until Thursday because of thunderstorms arriving right after.
Working on plan B. We have family in southern Michigan; can fly/drive from there.
We can get back home (MIC) on Monday, but I’ll be flying because IFR. #flyga #planning

My awesome wife is even more awesome: she passed her private pilot checkride today! Not without drama: with time running out and after three reschedules for weather, her DPE got covid yesterday. Unbelievably, she found another DPE who was available today (!), and she finished her ride, crushing it. #aviation #flyga
