https://capyreader.com by @_jocmp is a new and open source #feedreader. It's been in development for a while and now it is good enough that I switched to it from FocusReader's paid version. CapyReader doesn't have some fancy features that FocusReader does, but that's okay, I didn't use them anyway. I miss some features like jumping to a feed from list of entries or sorting #feeds by number of unreads, but that's manageable. Hopefully, CapyReader will get these features and more as it matures. It is going to be my recommended feed reader on #Android from now.

Neues Jahr - neue Feeds:

1. Vor allem die lange Liste entrümpeln - viele Feeds sind nicht mehr aktiv.

2. Weniger ist mehr. Lieber ein paar wirklich gute, die ich dann auch regelmäßig lese - und nicht 965 Stück, die in Form von Karteileichen im Reader bleiben.

3. Dazu eine Rubrik: "Preview", wenn ich einen neuen Feed entdecke: Erst einmal speichern, nach einer Woche entscheiden, ober er in eine permanente Rubrik wandert oder gelöscht wird.

Ich habe ja berichtet, dass ich FreshRSS als zentralen Feed-Hub auf meinem Webspace laufen habe. Meist scrolle ich auf dem iPad durch die Artikel (dort: Reeder classic).
Auf dem Desktop finde ich Newsflash recht angenehm. Der kann via Api ebenfalls auf FreshRSS zugreifen:

@BlackIkeEagle fwiw, ex-vivaldi user here [via your repo, heehee]. i had multiple reasons eventually, after many years, to prefer fox over vee, in addition to the one you named. not only but including;

• no html5 canvas fingerprinting protection in v even using the dedicated extensions for it, which otoh work fine in ff;
• no #mv2 anymore [or else very soon?], so no more #uBO (& neither #uBOL, nor their native static list-based blocker, compares or suffices);
• after all these years afaik still a lukewarm single-windowlet PiP capability;
• no capability for sophisticated infinitely nested tab hierarchy ;
• user profiles are [or at least, were] not truly independent like they are in ff
• native #RSS #feedreader tended to #necrofetch like a proper bastard, negating any advantage over just using an extension / addon;
• unlike many v critics who mouth-off at it not being fully #FOSS, that never was more than a low-level irritant for me, as i emphatically trust Jon ever since OperaPresto, but otoh, using v axiomatically meant i was implicitly contributing to the single-engining of the web, which i oppose on principle

anyway, all these debates across the interwebz are ok, but as long as users can find something that makes them happy, then it's lovely.

Welchen #Feedreader nimmt man denn aktuell für #linux? Will's standalone haben, nicht in Browser oder Mail-Client.

Nutze bisher #liferea, aber der zickt jetzt rum bei einer einfachen HTTP-Basic Authentifizierung. Vielleicht Zeit, nach 15+ Jahren mal was neues auszuprobieren.

Un plugin WordPress per avere un feed RSS grafico e stilizzato (molto più utile del default wordpress, che avvia il download del feed).

Usa php (8+), xsl, css e js.
Tutto dinamico (lingua compresa) ed è valido su plugin checker.

Which terminal/console/tui feed reader that can import OPML do you use and recommend?

I have tried:

- nom[0]: segfaults occasionally, messes up links when line-breaking them
- tuifeed[1]: doesn't display any articles it's downloaded

Am currently evaluating feedr[2]

Habe in der Mittagspause mal eben den #Miniflux RSS Reader auf einem Server installiert. Ging schnell und problemlos. Die Doku dazu ist prima 🙂

Und die Anbindung von Capy Reader über die Google Reader -kompatible Schnittstelle von Miniflux hat auch wunderbar funktioniert. Man muss nur wissen, dass man sich dann eben mit den Google Reader API Credentials einloggen muss - und nicht mit den normalen Zugangsdaten für Miniflux.

Wrote some JavaScript code to customize #Miniflux #feedReader to automatically sort articles by similarity. Now I can read similar articles one after another easily.

Was waiting & waiting & waiting... n waiting some more... for my #RSS #feedreader to pick up today's #TheSundayShot for me. Nada. Upon investigation i discovered that those crafty cunning tricksy craftycunningtricksers had outsmarted me by publishing it last Friday.

I see now that i'm going to have to alter my procedure. Henceforth...

I'll have to get up in the morning at ten o’clock at night, half an hour before I go to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when i get home, our Dad would kill us, and dance about on our graves singing “Hallelujah.” Then, once i pull myself together, i'll check for any new TSS issues.
