Started a new job with #Elixir finally! Really happy to get back to it

It focuses a bit more on frontend (and even mobile) so that’s new, I always felt I could do better on that side of the stack so I’m very happy about it!

The first week has been pretty intense and exciting :D

Remember Phoenix LiveViews in tests are stateful. I was pulling my hair out why it first didn't and then worked when I didn't reassign the result of e.g. render_click().

LiveViews are always stateful processes but the functional brain forgot about it.

The pain when trying to imagine something running as a CLI program that's a good POSIX-y citizen but also does complicated dynamic async stuff internally. #Nodejs has a stupid tcsetattr stomp. #Python's async story feels weak. Got curious about #Elixir/#Erlang relatively speaking, looked at erl_signal_server to see about cleaning up on SIGINT instead of triggering emulator break, but it's not in the handleable list! --erl +Bd allows classic immediate exit, but not cleanup. Argh.

I don’t really use Reddit but there’s a big Elixir community there so I post on there from time to time What I don’t understand is why the mods are so quick to take down posts that are (imo) helpful to the community? Here’s the post if you’re interested: www.beamrec.com/forum/the-be... #elixir

From concepts to bright lights. Chris Dutton builds a DMX lighting controller with Nerves. His talk at NervesConf US is now available.

Now I am also on #Bluesky thanks to fed.brid.gy bridge. Works like a charm, but in order to follow Bluesky accounts from #Mastodon they have to follow @ap.brid.gy first.
Finally I can start following more people from #Erlang, #Elixir and #Gleam community.

Perl Weekly Challenge 359's tasks are "Digital Root" and "String Reduction", but the entire time I was writing these solutions, all I heard in my head was Chuck Mangione's Give It All You Got. #PerlWeeklyChallenge #raku #perl #python #elixir

Found another Erlang gem for a system I'm currently building:

erlang.org/doc/apps/kernel/net

use :net_kernel.monitor_nodes(true) from e.g. a GenServer and get info messages when a node joins and leaves.

This is so useful and I love it!

Wr have passed 300 on the Goatmire 2026 mailing list. I don't know if we'll manage to swing 300 seats so that's certainly a kind of exciting. #elixir #goatmire

#FOSDEM was a blast, we had 2 #AtomVM talks, one of them was in music production devroom, and it was a great surprise ideed. #Elixir

Ported the Microprints library to . In a Phoenix Liveview development environment , the compiler, and parser are running, and file reloading is a channel you can subscribe to :-). This is great for

The default phoenix liveview directory structure makes it sometimes hard to keep track of what goes where. I now have a view with the 10 most recent files that I can expand to see details.

Dev Tools screen on a phone. A legend and three micro prints. The bottom micro print is expanded to show a source viewer.

Using Erlangs queues is highly recommended. At least read up on them:

I didn't need to write my own webinterface to schedule port builds with poudriere. I still did and it's awesome.

Just launched the custom #activitystreams based thingy for #kf20 :3 It's heavily based on how Pleroma does things and is written in #elixir. I have objects (without activities) and collections working. No actors, activities and standard #activitypub stuff yet - there's Events and Logs objects for things like keeping track of NETs after the fact and Members to list peeps in kf20. It's a heavy work in progress but works! :3 so cool, I'm proud of myself
