@louis Merci!

#EasyOS #PuppyLinux #Linux
Dear friends of #easyos
Yep. Got it working on my laptop. So pride of myself. Not proud boys, but hum-bled. Before I was running a weird mutant Linux :tux:
Now I am running Excalibar (v7.0.13), if I can do it a lobster CAN-can ride a bike. :mastodance:
I must be one of those cool cats that I read about...
Dear Friends of EasyOS,
Barry Kauler has released EasyOS Linux 7.0.8 (not yet officially) I just pressed the update button and it updated after I deleted the older 7.0.6 img file (as there was no room for it)
So it has jumped a number. I am aware of some of the improvemets as I am following Barrys blog.
Dear alternative Friends,
In real life (RL) I have this morning:
- Checked out #EasyOS Linux. Not yet ready for auto-update of the Next Release. I am awaiting... with spare laptop at the ready... Oz OS? Coming...
- Installed an old working ionizer to collect micro-dust on a clean bit of paper next to my pillow
- Had no sugar, vegan muesli for breakfast and seeded bread with low salt yeast type spread
- Emailed those interested in https://www.yourparty.uk/#// an ultra popular pro peace pro NHS, pro people, pro community housing party etc started by a former leader of the opposition. 300 000 people interested in joining and counting...
Ah well bang goes my anarchic un-principles... :agummyhug:
Still awaiting the latest #EasyOS Linux to be upgradeable by pressing one button.
I just booted into it from a keydrive. It can not be booted from an ISO like Puppy Linux. As usual it mostly runs from root, so is theoretically not as secure as some require. Also it has far too many programs BUT only Rox Filer for reading files. The new version is in preparation
https://bkhome.org/news/
If you want to try it out, wait just a little longer...
Give that lobster a bicycle! 🦞
As usual I can not remember how I have done it. BUT:
I am in #EasyOS Linux, updated to the latest version and running the #Seamonkey #Browser.
I am of course running as root miss user. We old #Puppy Users HATE passwords.
We are so naughty...
I am also using two monitors, booting from a USB keydrive and feeling Super smug with myself (don't worry I will not be installing BSD variants - I am not that smug) 😉
You can cheer for me or scream if you prefer. I can only say persistence does pay off ✅
... and oh, thanks for the virtual bicycle :mastodance:
Ugh, my flirtation with #EasyOS is on a break. It lasted one day, which about what I expected. Distros can draw you in with all this craziess like running from RAM and logging you into X as root. And there are all these icons of apps that imply you can do stuff. Shockingly, Wifi and sound just worked.
But... My bog-standard Logitech mouse wouldn't pair. I tried installing KeepassXC from the pkg manager, 👎 tried AppImage, 👎 Tried Flatpak 👎.
Sorry that bodes unwell. I might try again in a year.

#EasyOS has some confusing container deal in RAM.
Me 25 years ago: I have 1 gig of RAM, why can't I just put Win95 there?
Me today: I have 16 gigs for this 1 gig OS loaded in RAM and this shit is FUCKING FAST.
Then I'm shutting down and it asks if I want to save my progress like this is a fucking video game. I realize there is a "SAVE" icon nestled on the desktop. So THAT'S why desktop OS's don't just run from RAM.
The more you know
Thanks to @kenw 's suggestion, I am trying to develop a vice. I gave another shot at installing #EasyOS and it was WILD. I had initial problems that caused the installer to have me hand-edit xorg.conf. Turns out the instructions linked to an older version of the disk image (?)
Once installed it was a playland of intense colors and a 1997 aesthetic. Imagine it's Y2K, you have 16 gigs of RAM, Y2K25 version of Firefox, with Appimage and Flatpak support that don't work. WILD.
Dear Sunday restees,
I have been wasting my precious Sunday on finding out about #VOIP, #SIP and #Twinkle Internet SIP software.
Could I get #Twinkle to work? No! Years ago, we developed a SIP phone for Puppy Linux. Seem to remember it was called "PSip". It is probably in #easyos
Wil try again.

For now, remember, you're a Womble!
Dear Friends Of #easyos
Using it now as root. Just been on the Puppy Linux forum (EasyOS is a derivative)
1. Planning to splash out on a USB Key Drive and multi card reader (SD microSD etc)
I am using a key drive to run EasyOS. Gonna get another as an SD Drive to store a few vids
2. About to do a bit of exercise. Will be concentrating on leg strength
3. Then off for a brisk walk to ensure Gaia (Earth 1) has not be stolen/sold/invaded
Stay frosty. Be kind to aliens, (if you don't know any, try being kind to humans)
Dear Friends from OZ and others over the rainbow,
As you may know Puppy Linux is a chihuahua (small). Run from ram, loads from USB CD or DVD
Still have one computer running Puppy. Tend to use #EasyOS now as a backup to my #GNU-Debian
Twelve years ago I did a briefing on Puppy #security
Much still relevant?

Dear GNU-Debian #penguins,
There I was trying to finish watching a #film ('movie' for non Englanders) when the sound was gone. Nada. 'Computer says no!'. Now where could the sound have gone. Everything else was fine for sound. Tried:
- checking all sound settings I could find. All fine.
- Using VLC instead of video. Nope.
- Playing other videos that were known to work. No can do.
Turning computer off and on again etc etc etc.
In the end I booted from a keydrive into #EasyOS and continued watching from there.
That took me an hour of fiddling about.
I blame in no particular order:
- The Pope and Dalai Lama for not being married
- My incompetence (somewhere along the line)
- Pirates from other dimensions
- Some sort of unseen #update that went semi silent
What is a gal to do? In #cyberspace none can hear the #screaming...
I will try one last time and then call in the experts (wait I am the only expert available)
I will be in the corner screaming if anyone needs me... 😱

Dear Friends of low tech, :anarchy:
...aka lo-tech. As we may know we should always 'be prepared'. Just like the girl guides, boy scouts or the real techies. :ablobcatbongokeyboard:
So for example in my go-bag:
1. Portrait of St Ignatius :ablobcatangel:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defective_by_Design
2. Candle, notepad and pencil 🕎🕯️📝
3. Sleeping bag :firefish_sleepy:
I may include the latest version of #EasyOS (Puppy Linux derivative) but maybe that would make me useful. Mostly I am not. Then I am ready to head for the hills. Is that a bit too much? Maybe I just need a jacket with everything? 🪶

Dear Friends of the #FREE and #EASY,
It is difficult being a Pi-on-ear, #pioneer or indeed a #blessing to the myriad #realms of #existence. My efforts of Pie:
- supported #Puppy #Linux on new hardware for many years (well new by Puppy standards)
puppylinux-woof-ce.github.io/
- installed #EasyOS #Linux with no #passwords, no #encryption
www.forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?p=126378#p126378
- As usual will now have to update my info. Searching for a long forgotten password. Pah! :ablobcatcoffee:
wikka.puppylinux.com/Lobster
- Maybe will update #GROWL, my contribution to 'insecurity'

Dear Friends of Linux,
This morning whilst MicroSith and their death eaters were dying... I was busy.:ablobcatbongokeyboard:
#Installing the latest #EasyOS #Linux on my #Lenova laptop. The laptop came with Windows originally. No interest to me. I tried installing #Puppy Linux, as I am very familiar with her. Eventually however I ended up using #Manjaro until...
My password stopped working. :blobangery:
Not sure why, I had the password written down but no use. It allowed me to go through a procedure of "forgotten your password". No, I have not! :ablobcatcoffee:
Anyways booted EasyOS, set up 'ungoogled' #chromium #browser, whatever that is and all is well.
EasyOS is created and maintained mainly by Barry #Kauler, who also created Puppy and so I am familiar with many of the programs. :blobcatstrong:
Was on a #Zoom call and heard about the #outages caused by #Crowdstrike, or whoever is taking the blame and being bought out at a reduced price by Satya Narayana Nutella (whatever that is).
Anyway I hope I am safe and wish everyone not effected all the best.🕊️
