Tanto Cataclysm-DDA y Space Station 14 usan documentos de texto plano para almacenar mapas que pesan ~10mb.. y puede llegar 1 GB en CDDA, si como loco ese dia raideando zombies de ciudad en ciudad...

En serio alguien se va poner a editar 10mb o 1Gb con el notepad.exe? no lo veo practico. No para el runtime, alarga el procesamiento con la CPU de pasar texto humano a las representaciones binarias internas mas agiles, y despues el proceso inverso la serializacion, por que no todo vas a poner en la memoria.

En SS14 hardcodean binarios en base64, ¿que onda? [captura del SS14] Te crees que voy a poder editar el base64?

Y en CDDA usa json para guardar el mapa, el consumo de espacio se les fue de las manos decidieron zipearlo, pasarlo de texto a binario, ¿pero no querias binario? ¿ahora lo zipeas? (igual ya saben que nadie se lee)

Ran into a bug that I hope is distribution / install-specific and will go away when I move to #Slackware ... so I stopped playing, but I've been having fun with 1 world I created, playing the same character and starting scenario over and over and over, slowly increasing my character's stats, trying to learn the game and survive a bit longer.

If I recall correctly, I am currently on Sherry #23... but it might be #24...

I tried keeping notes and documenting coordinates of known stashes and other valuable locations, but each character seems to start off in the same world with a different coordinate base...

Which is a bummer, because my goal is to find some of the previous Sherrys' dead bodies, and loot them for all the valuable things.

One of my Sherrys found an atomic reading lamp, which I really want to find again, but... ugh... I'm gonna have to learn how to make one, using the parts from atomic coffee makers, because those are the only atomic things I've found with successive Sherrys...

C'est la vie... It's a fun game, and easy to stop and start, because it is turned based... It's a roguelike zombie (and other monsters) survival crafting game.

It's a lot of fun... Especially once you learn how to drive. The first few years I played, I couldn't figure out driving, so I was walking everywhere.

Then I found some videos on YouTube of people playing and I learned a bit more, and kind of have the hang of it now... But it is a steep learning curve.

And it's free, open source.

Played Cataclysmdda for the first time in a while.

Secret agent helicopter start. Decided to make towards the helicopter base as it seemed like a cool potential base.

Found an RV along the way as well as a military road block where I picked up a trusty M4A1 and ammunition.

Eventually got to the Helicopter Base, and leeroy Jenkinsed into the zeds... by which I mean I rammed half of them with my RV and then shot the remainder. Also got some night vision goggles but they chew through batteries almost impossibly fast.

All in all a great first day to the cataclysm.

Bin gerade auch mit meiner #Dreamcast Anwendung vorwärts gekommen. Das abspielen der #CDDA Tracks funktioniert so, wie ich das erwarte, wenn man es auf der echten #Hardware laufen lässt. Im #Emulator, in diesem Fall #Flycast, funktioniert es nicht richtig. Mal einen Bugreport einreichen, bzw. vielleicht auch mal in den Quellcode reinschauen und ggf. einen Patch einreichen. Mal schauen.

Diese dusselige #CDDA Wiedergabe auf der #Dreamcast macht mich wahnsinnig! Ich habe einen einzelnen Track, den ich wiederholen möchte, wenn er abgespielt wurde. Dafür frage ich über die #KallistiOS #API ab, ob der State noch auf "Playing" steht. Wenn nicht, soll der Track wieder gestartet werden.
Gestartet wird der Track ohne Probleme, allerdings dauert es nach dem Track 2:30min bis er wieder neu startet. Kann mir derzeit echt nicht erklären warum.

Damn look at this four street town with no connection to anything else at all. Kind of like the start of a smalltown horror movie. But it is the cataclysm I guess.

I'm playing #CDDA again and enjoying the chaotic nature of early game roguelike before the grind sets in. This is a #YASD (yet another stupid death) because I was going too fast and wrapped my character around a tree.

It's only fitting that I make my characters last dying breath: SPEEEEEED.

Prueba superada. He volcado (ripeado) el mismo #CD con #cyanrip y me ha sacado un #FLAC con idéntico sonido.

Para verificarlo he importado ambos FLAC en #Audacity, uno de ellos lo he invertido (en catalán, «capgirat», el efecto «inverteix» cambia el orden temporal de las muestras, no su amplitud). Después mezclar y renderizar en una pista nueva. El resultado tenía que ser silencio y silencio es lo que se obtiene.
