Maybe @whot should re-publish it yearly. 😄
Sadly the post does not mention that #Xorg (without a Dot after the X!) is something different (it's the older and once widespread of two popular X-Servers the X.org project publishes these days; the other one is #Xwayland).

I always use alsamixer -c0 up to cxx from the OSS ALSA period since it's ncurses based & faster than GUI programs.
Many things in Linux were changed for good reason, but some are questionable. I don't use systemD init is easier to maintain. It aint broke so KISS
Pipewire is fun to add FX in my signal chain to my DAW, but for serious work I have a physical FX rack.
I love pavucontrol
I understand why Wayland was made and only have it on my SBC Raspberry Pi5

Over here the 8K display would be sliced up in monitor sections, effectively making it a matrix of 1080p displays concatenated, using X.org or Wayland

Anders Rytter Hansen @anders managed to get #XLibre and #XFCE running on #AlmaLinux 10.1 by compiling from source. According to him, it is a challenge because Red Hat removed all #Xorg packages from #RHEL 10.
He says: "But with enough effort I succeeded and I'm happy with my result, because now I can enjoy the performance and compatibility benefits of XLibre on a stable enterprise-grade distribution."
