#funaday2026 Day 3! (I think it might be easier for me to just post about the day prior, but who knows, maybe I'll find my flow!)

There's this lingering Chrono Trigger set I've been "actively" "working" "on" for a few years now, which I conceived a new keyword for: TECH, based on that game's magic/skill system. It enables powerful secondary effects on Specials, unlocked by discarding a Special belonging to the Teammate named immediately after the keyword.

Another community member kinda grumbled that it felt too specific (and that the keyword evoked "technology," which is fair enough but it is literally short for "technique"), so I made it my goal to create a couple specials for established characters and hopefully get folks to fuck with the vision, and landed on a pair with roots in the very first set: the X-Men's Colossus and Wolverine.

I'm pretty proud of the layouts on these, aesthetically speaking, though I might go back and center the effect text a bit.

Mechanically, I tried my best to adapt the duo's classic team-up attack, the " Fastball Special," into two distinct but useful abilities. Colossus on his own can deal some heavy damage, but paired with the Canucklehead, he can hit anyone on the field. Fatally, one hopes. And on Wolvie's side, he can get to the enemy even if they're trying to skedaddle.

So there is a reason why, when #RoyThomas, artist #JohnRomitaSr., and writer #LenWein devised a Canadian superhero for #MarvelComics in 1973-74, they came up with #Wolverine. Overtime, as the character’s backstory was revealed, the character was shown to be long-lived, and had fought in both WWI & WWII. During that time, he did not have access to his claws. The depiction of his activities during that time, perhaps unknowingly, reflect the Canadian military reputation. #ComicCover #CoverIllusration #ComicArt
