Someone on the IC-9100 groups.io list asked about using packet with this radio which prompted me to see if that's still working for me. I fired up Winlink Express to retrieve the #FFWN reply over the WA3WLH-10 node using the CMLBK digi, but got no response. I then tried W3AVP-10 node using two digis (CMLBK, PINEGV) and that worked and got my reply (π @bud_t !). It's good to have options in case the local internet infrastructure goes kerflooey. π

We had 21 check-ins to this wek's #FediFridayWinlinkNet
This week's questions was "What is one ham radio goal you have for this upcoming year?" Here are the responses (I sense a them lol):
- Do more POTA/SOTA and other portable ops (since operating HF from my home is difficult)
- To do more portable HF in warm month, because I've got no psssibility to do HF at home
- Trying for the AMSAT reverse rover award.
- Winlink participation in the many different nets, 365 days of the year
- Get my station and antennas setup and back on air after moving into new home in late 2025
- Only one? :-) Probably it's keep exploring as-yet undiscovered corners of the hobby
- I really have three goals for 2026 - learn to send Winlink messages and participate in the FFWN(accomplished via..this message!), complete as many of the 2026 HamChallenges as possible, and to learn and use CW
- Get at least 2 POTA activations per month.
- Put up a tower and rotatable multi channel dipole
- Getting a Winlink Gateway established in the shack and start using Lora APRS
- Oof, just do more radio!
- Do more voice contacts over HF
- 25 SOTA activations
- A bit more operating in the field
- Start using AREDN for packet; get my General
- More POTA
- Work on my rusty CW skills
- >50 SOTA activations
- Hopefully I'll get on the air in 2026
- Setup a 2nd HF station in CA

- HF packet and POTA

I just sent out this week's #FediFridayWinlinkNet announcement via #Winlink. This is our last #FFWN of 2025!
If you are not getting the Winlink net announcement messages and would like to receive those, let me know and I will add you to the list. I will also post the net announcement here tomorrow.

I know that sending this to the world is likely to get me flooded with messages, but I'll take a bunch over none.
No luck getting ax25 requests to work on a few different machines, but telnet seems fine and works great with Pat running on my DigiPi install. However, I've not been able to send anything to myself (I think that worked with my old call sign, but maybe I'm misremembering). I *can* send to internet email and back, so yay.
If you're an active Winlink user, would you mind tossing K0ROS a quick message? I'll respond to a few and make sure my responses get out as well.
We had 19 check-ins to this week's #FediFridayWinlinkNet
Thanks to everyone for participating! Confirmations have been sent via #Winlink and the net webpage has been updated at https://w0rmt.net/ffwn/
