COMPUTER TROUBLE RANT
When I'm into computer trouble and search for a solution I sometimes end up on a #GITHUB page.
Then I know I'm totally lost and there is NO light for me at the horizon.
Github pages are for geeks and programmers.
Full of gooble-dy-gook techno babble in geek jargon that is waaaay beyond comprehension for anyone without a history of being a computer geek for at least 10 years.
Not for the general public.
Not for noobs.
Not even for people like me who have done some programming.
So.... why this rant?
I'm using #Molly messenger instead of #Signal messenger on my #Android phone.
I thought I'd use the option to lock Molly after a certain time for privacy reasons. Now it appears that when the app is locked, I don't get notifications when receiving a message or call.
How useless is that!
You seem to need a special type of notification system up and running.
(Here comes the scary part)
#UnifiedPush #WebSocket #eos
It is called 'Unified push' and a normal 'websocket' is not good. (are you still with me?)
When trying to activate Unified push I get the message that I should scan the QR code from the/my/a websocket page...
QR code?
Heuh??? What? Where?
There is also the option to 'Learn more'. Since I'm always willing to learn more, I clicked it.
And then taa-taaaah, I arrived at the dreaded Github page:
https://github.com/mollyim/mollysocket
Good luck with that, all talk about whatever command line commands, while I'm on an Android phone.
Come on guys, can't you do any better?
Make things that work, also for noobs.
PLEASE, PLEASE and relieve me from my misery.
