I'm watching on C-SPAN the hearing about the Netflix-Warner merger. These senators really don't understand anything. Their questions are really off topic. They don't understand that Netflix is competing in the "attention economy", not only against another streamer. Even having people watching paint dry is Netflix's competition in reality. And that senator still doesn't get it!

Idiotic government. They're not good for anything.

I have had this nagging question about why federal impeachment cases in the US are tried by the Senate, rather than the Supreme Court. I am reading pages 15 to 25 of this article from 1970, which not only clarify the rationale for the current process of impeachment, but may also explain why securing a conviction is so rare.

#OR Senator Jeff Merkley and #OR6 Congresswoman Andrea Salinas have introduced legislation in the #USSenate and #USHouse to give legal tools to victims to sue #ICE and #CBP when their agents violate people’s civil and Constitutional rights.

This is needed but we shouldn’t leave loopholes to be exploited. There should be an easy-to-access remedy for individuals to sue ANY federal law enforcement agency that violates their rights.
