Sage my adopted Bengal mix. His shelter name was Saguaro, you know those butt ugly cactus they have in cartoons that look like people with their hands up? Blech no way. Sage will do. All my life I have adopted whoever needed it most so I have had a string of black cats for half a century. This time I went for looks and he has the most striking tiger markings I have ever seen.

Someone obviously was throwing crap at him as he was terrified of people but with his markings if I saw him in my yard I would not be thinking Cat I would be thinking Lynx or escaped Tiger kit, but still people, learn a little compassion.

How to train your Tiger

One had been abused / feral. He was so shy I barely saw him for the first several days. Tried this treat and we are now best buds.

As long as I have more treats.

I have a story. Had I known the other day I was about to witness the most hilarious animal interaction ever, I would have had my camera at the ready. I did not so I did not. Bare with me this story takes a lot of setting up but worth it I swear.

I think most veteran cat owners would agree; boys are sweet, girls are trouble.

I have probably owned 30 + cats in my long life about 85% of which were male (fixed everyone. No one replicates in my house including me) and every single female was more trouble than all my boys combined. They are more aggressive, curious, and basically mischief makers. The boys are generally just sweet and wonderful.

I recently adopted two Tiger kittens, from separate litters though they are almost identical. There must be a breeder of Bengals around here as most of the kittens were obvious Bengal mixes with just incredible tiger striped markings. His nose is black and his markings are more striking. She has some gold in with the black stripes. They had never met, but were instantly pals pretty much ignoring my female tuxedo and male Flame Siamese, though the Siamese can be seen crashing up and down the long hallway with the tigers. So here is what happened;

I was lying in bed and Sage (m) was sitting outside my door in the hall looking like he just woke up. I was cooing to him trying to get him to make up his mind and come see me. He did not see the treats I used to get him to not think I am a monster so he was still debating his next move. He was terrified when he first came home with me and Jewels his to be sister. He spent 3 days under a desk only coming out to eat. I think her escapades as she explored her new home maybe made him more confident or maybe it was just the treats. He is still very shy, jumps at noises and has obviously had people throw things at him.

The shelter had no information but I am confident he was feral and or abused, so now a month in it is still a treat to me when he will come near me. So he was sitting in the hallway looking at me debating his next move when suddenly something attracted his attention and his head swiveled sharply to look down the hall. As my mind was formulating what might he might have seen, the question answered itself. It was Jewels incoming, hot and fast. My first sight was her paws outstretched coming in to view 2 feet off the ground. Her body quickly followed stretched out in linear tiger-missile pose. She was completely aloft at the apex of quite the leap for a young tiger, her parabolic arch trajectory aimed perfectly at the target, her unsuspecting newly adopted bro. The tackle would have made the Detroit Tigers proud as she just nailed her bro at the chest, her momentum transferring to Sage as they both flew out of my sight. I had been watching one tiger, briefly saw two tigers, and now saw no tigers. I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself.
