Hiding behind translations
After a lot of turmoil and their most vocal user base protesting about how Mozilla keeps pushing "AI" into the browser in many weird ways they now released the "AI Killswitch" they have been talking about for a while. Which is good. Those features should have been "opt-in" from the start and it's kinda weird how users of a Browser that frames itself as the resistance against "Big Tech" need to fight it tooth and nail to not push Big Tech's vision of a slop future onto them. But I […]Two people vibe coding the same project(s) is a "Vibe Triangle".

Oooooh! I LOVE snirt! ❤️❤️❤️
Is #snirt a #yegBike term or is it used more broadly among bike folks?
(As long as cars exist, I really really really want the world to adopt the #Edmonton word #parkade instead of the needlessly long and boring #ParkingStructure 😛).
When we say "struct" we generally are referring to C structs. Now that Go, Rust, etc, implement structs that sort of act like classes, should we start explicitly calling them C structs to differentiate from Go/Rust structs?

#Vocabulary selection is important. Sometimes, a change of #terminology is idiotic at best. For example, we abolished #homelessness, now we only have #unhoused. Sorry, WTF? Changing from prostitute to sex-worker, that makes sense, as prostitution has always been tied to bad morals and judgement. Here using the slur argument has merit. I've not really been convinced with the r-word, but for those called such derogitorially, for them the change was #empowering, so I'm happy to run with it. /1
Words are violence, immigration is invasion, treatment is abuse, and now drug-smuggling is waging war. Is there another way to bastardize the English language that I should know about?

Just thinking here. Is there any #chess #terminology for the #Chuvash language?
I don't like how most of #lemmy instances copied the US-centric terminology from Reddit, where "News" means US-centric news, while "World news" is for everything else.
There should be some encouragment, some kind of initiative to make "News" mean "all news"
