We are standing beside a large lake surrounded by a forest of leafless trees waiting for spring. A small cluster of fading green lily pads floats just offshore. A peninsula foreground right and a small island just past it to our left have many birch trees, just as leafless but standing out for their bright trunks and branches. The sky is overcast with thick dark gray clouds, but small breaks in the clouds along the horizon allow the rays of the recently set sun to paint the bottoms of the clouds near the horizon a vibrant orange. The sky and trees along the shore are mirrored on the gently rippled lake surface.

Fetching some more firewood from the distant barn.

Heard from the old village, due to the extreme cold, many are running low on wood pellets or do not have enough to last for the remaining winter. Shops and sawmills are out of stock, nothing more to buy. Scalpers are offering bags for twice the usual price on Skelbiu. Sucks if your heating can only run on highly processed firewood.

No problem starting the tractor today. The new engine oil may have helped, but mostly it was because it didn't dip below -10°C last night.

Bit of a struggle turning around in front of the barn to back the trailer inside, as you can see from the messed up snow.
