Then a neat project to build a seven-segment clock out of nothing but a crystal and a bunch of discrete CMOS logic chips - schematic available if you want your own!

If ever you need to buy USB wifi adapters for linux this repo has it covered:

github.com/morrownr/USB-WiFi

> The mission of this site is to provide educational information, reviews of USB WiFi adapters and links to specific adapters that are known to perform well with Linux ( see The Plug and Play List ).

It's updated often.

I did try FSFs 'Respects Your Freedom' site too but choices are limited(understandably) and US focussed:

I'd really love to see an #OpenHardware, #OpenSoftware matrix mixer & DSP processor.

Likewise for modern PA systems, in order for them to be any use, you must rely on a proprietary matrix mixer and DSP processor to process and route the signals from the mixers to the loudspeakers.

While I think this is largely "fine", it would be great to have something for smaller venues and operators who are running older and maybe cobbled together systems. Ditto for up-and-coming speaker system designers.

I would love to work on a start-up to develop a #Linux and #OpenHardware based audio platform for developing #MixingConsoles, #DSPs, #AudioDistribution and more.

I wonder if anyone is working on such a thing?

Random musing of the day: What would it take to build an open source atomic clock?

Designing an atomic clock and making the design open is easy. Heck, there are plenty of schematics and drawings of commercial clocks online. But making it such that Joe and Jane Average could replicate it at home without any parts or devices that are hard to get or extremely expensive? That's a tough nut.

#Hamradio Manifesto : from usage to creativity

A short writing to define a strategic transition: moving from passive use to the design of resilient and innovative communication systems:

* an open & modular RF stack
* Mesh Networks and Technological Resilience
* RF Hacking and STEM Education

The new UNBRK HEX boards have arrived! An improved version of the UNBRK, this ultra-compact prototyping board for QFP48/64/100/144 MCUs has wider trace geometry for better low-power performance, provisions for header pins, and an improved, unique 0201 prototyping grid to experiment with components reclaimed from #ewaste. #openhardware released under the CERN-OHL-S and supported by @nlnet and @NGIZero, you can find its repository at repo.unbina.re/unbinare/UNBRK_ #fosdem2026

Two UNBRK HEX prototyping boards are shown, One demonstrates the topside of the board with a footprint that accommodates QFP48, QFP64, QFP100 and QFP144 MCUs and four rows of breakout pads. The other demonstrates the backside of the UNBRK HEX, with its unique 0201 prototyping grid.
