Anecdotal observation tonight is that Guelph only has 3-5mm of accretion, half of what was projected. Freezing rain is finicky. But my dad texted me that he just had thunderstorms roll through his area south of London. Looks like this will give us a top up. #ONstorm #onwx

Environment Canada continued the orange alert for freezing rain with significant accretion at 04:43. Kudos to their early riser! Work from home it is, and I am not going to feel bad if that forecast changes later. #onstorm

Now there's a signal that Guelph could be an epicentre for more freezing rain on Friday morning. Not putting too much stock into it, as models can change and freezing rain is very hard to predict, but the signal for a double shot (actually double the amount) is there. #ONstorm #onwx

NBM = National Blend of Models, i.e. a model consensus. 10mm of ice aligned along/west of the upper escarpment isn't great news. This is probably what prompted Environment Canada to boost its Yellow Winter Storm Watch to an Orange Freezing Rail Warning across Wellington/Waterloo. #onwx #ONstorm

Lessons from cycling for 13 mins in -20°C after a massive snow storm:
- I have to cycle slowly
- Snow accumulated in bike lanes makes them unusable
- Cycling is still faster than all the cars. They keep passing me, and I keep passing them when they stop at loooong queues at red lights
- Beard and moustache icicles form much faster at this temperature
- I need a thinner touque that fits better under my helmet. And a winter tires for my bike.

Seen on my street: three people, one in reflective vest, digging out a snowbank because a delivery van was parked half on the curb, leaving no room for a sedan that was trying to drive up the street. As I continued on, presently the sedan drove past me. I looked back down the street to see the shovellers hard at work because a large pickup truck, too big to fit through where the sedan had gone, was now also waiting to get through.
