Hey, #Eleventy and #Netlify people: is there any way when using continuous deployment to not bother building every single fie and instead only build changed/new files and merge into a cache of the previous build?

Been working on a large @11ty site recently, unfortunately all the platforms I've tried to deploy to run out of memory.

I don't particularly want to go to an enterprise plan if I can help it, anyone have any ideas?

For ref, setting max_old_space_size=16384 gets me someway there but most of the platforms ( #netlify, etc) only go up to 11gb, even on Pro plan.

Currently trying #vercel with their enhanced performance stuff but it's not looking good.

Trying to find the best option for hosting an #eleventy site, however there is a lot of content (I mean, a LOT) that gets updated frequently and #netlify's new pricing structure is a lot more prohibitive than the legacy one for regular builds.

One idea is #cloudways since we already have an account, has anyone done this kind of build-and-deploy with them?

#Netlify changed its pricing structure, and within a week, my websites consumed half of the allowed credits in the free tier. So, I had to move two of the most frequently updated to #GitHub pages. Fortunately, they were hosted on my subdomain, so the URLs remain the same. That is the advantage of owning your domain name. The backend engines can continue to change without affecting the permalinks.

I am looking into possible alternatives to Netlify and saw Grebedoc. That looks interesting, but the one single thing I do with Netlify beyond hosting static pages is having a contact form with a honeypot. It is really simple: "fill out these fields and it will send me an email".

Does anyone have any suggestions or am I locked into Netlify?

I am clearly getting tons of bot traffic to my blog, and it’s spoofing real user traffic which is pushing me out of the free tier of one of the tools I use, which bases its oricong model on visitors (but didn’t count things like GoogleBot crawling for search). I think most of the bot traffic is from China (or claims it is). I currently don’t have any tracking that lets me see IPs so I can’t just do IP blocking, though if I could add something to my site to track IPs for a little while, I would consider that.

What can I do to block them? I use 11ty with Netlify. They clearly don’t respect robots.txt

Finally getting time to re-prioritize this project. Upcoming interview next week, the 2nd this year (shame).

Meanwhile had to migrate it from #netlify to #cloudflare and took the chance to finally update it to Astro. This implied refactoring the whole posts into astro format.. first time using #cursor for that. Otherwise it would have taken ages to manually move all the hardcoded transcripts around.

Now I need to add finally missing distribution channels, including #podcast , #rss and more.

Just used Netlify for the first time to deploy an Astro app. I gotta say it was a very smooth experience. Their free tier is a bit restrictive with how many deployments you get, but if you freeze your app, it won't automatically deploy (due to commits being pushed to remote) until you unfreeze it, so you can manage that.

Any Netlify users out there? Seems like a pretty good option for hosting a site made with an SSG like Eleventy.
