Hey #LinuxAudio #DAW #MusicStudio people:

For someone brand new to music production, which would be easier to get started with: #Ardour or #ZRhythm?

Asking for an #ADHD teen who is passionate about #music and computers but has never done any music production (no, not me). They'd be recording and editing both MIDI tracks and live microphone recordings.

They would be using it on Windows, but with me doing my best to learn alongside them and help them out while on Linux. Thoughts?

It's hard with all of the violence that's going on to be inspired to share anything which lies outside of that. But today, I'll share this one thing, at least.

Yesterday I added something called ADAT to my music studio. In a nutshell, it allows me to send individual tracks of a recorded song from my computer out to my mixing desk, so that I can take advantage of the desk's EQing, effects and other tools.

I can then send the result back into the computer via a single stereo feed to be recorded anew. Later, I'll be able to send multiple stereo feeds or individual mono tracks back to the computer. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

This sort of thing is done in professional recording studios all the time. Little by little, I'm adding tools to up my game and challenge my abilities. Personal growth.

After a long period of studio work... 🎧 With many sessions of writing, recording, producing, laughing and definitely also crying... My new album is aaalmost finished… 🥁🥁

Now I feel so ready to get on stage again!! Especially when looking back to this gig in Simplon Groningen some years ago. 🎤

It’s the most magical feeling to deliver my music in person and have this special connection with the audience. It’s like communicating on a different level, through sound and poetry. ✨

As my music is a cocktail of alternative mystical electronic pop, it’s not always easy to find a matching stage.
