The Mess We Are Leaving
That question has been sitting heavily with me. A recent conversation with my brother brought it back into focus, and I will be honest, it made me sad.
The children of today, your children and mine, cannot live the childhood that my brother and I lived. Yes, we worked hard. We did not have it handed to us. But hard work led somewhere. You could see results. You could build a life step by step and feel the ground under your feet.
Times are different now.
There are still opportunities. There is still money to be made. Businesses can still be built. People can still grow and create, even in the messed-up world we are living in. I believe that. I am not blind to it.
Let Us Stop Lying To Ourselves.
Very few of our children will own homes.
Very few will buy apartments without crushing debt.
Very few will live the kind of stable life that you and I grew up with.
For me, the 80s and 90s hold good memories. My family worked hard and we got results. There was a link between effort and outcome that felt real. That link is thinner now, and for our grandchildren, I am afraid it may be almost gone. I hope I am wrong. I hope I am terribly wrong. But it is hard not to notice how every dystopian movie ever made feels less like fiction and more like a warning we ignored.
This Is Not Fear Mongering.
This is an observation… I am a positive person. You know that. But positivity does not mean pretending things are fine when they are not. A single conversation made me look back at how we grew up and then look at how this generation is growing up.
Confused.
Overstimulated.
Pulled in every direction.
Social media has become a mental meat grinder. Fake news and real news blend into one loud mess. Clickbait rewards outrage. Influencers with no real knowledge push opinions on fitness, food, religion, history, and basic health as if they are facts.
One day, this is good for you.
The next day, it will kill you.
That alone is enough to fracture a young mind.
If you and I struggle to make sense of what is happening in the world, how is a teenager supposed to? How is a child meant to understand political agendas, cultural division, and ideological pressure when even adults cannot agree on reality?
Leaders push agendas.
Educators push agendas.
The media pushes agendas.
Everyone is selling something.
And the cost is clarity.
I Am Not Depressed.
Yet this is depressing. That is why I am writing this at midnight. It needed to come out. I do not usually share thoughts like this publicly, but this one matters too much to keep private. We are raising children in a world that cares only about today. Likes today. Money today. Power today. Nobody wants to think ten years ahead, let alone fifty.
We consume.
We distract.
We argue.
Then we act surprised when the next generation feels lost.
I want to believe people will wake up. I want to believe logic will return. That we will fix what is broken and move forward with ideas that serve humanity instead of ego.
But if history teaches us anything, it is this.
Humans are very good at repeating mistakes.
We care deeply about now and almost never about later.
That is the part that scares me.
Not that the world is broken.
But we know it is broken and keep going anyway.

We Should Stop Pretending
So here we are today, living in a world that feels both depressing and deeply disturbing. Nearly every part of this planet looks like it is falling apart. The political state of the world is a disaster. Migration is mishandled. Adaptation is ignored. Every country seems locked in the same tired fight. Left versus right. Conservatives versus liberals. Extreme selfishness clashing with extreme performative selflessness.
Everyone is consumed by agendas. Greed. Envy. Money. Power.
And if anyone thinks this is normal, they are delusional.
Where are the good people?
Where are the sensible ones?
Looking back at history, humans have always treated other humans like garbage. In many cases, worse than animals. You do not even have to look that far back to see how cruel and evil we can be to each other, to other species, and to the planet itself.
What Makes Today Worse is That We Know Better.
We live in a world of abundance. Enough food. Enough resources. Enough knowledge. Yet people still hoard, exploit, and dominate as if everything belongs to them. The western mindset reduces life to stocks, markets, investments, money, and scams, all neatly wrapped in layers of lies.
We are told this is progress.
It does not feel like progress.
The world today may genuinely be the worst version of itself. Yes, history is filled with war and brutality. We know what humans did during World Wars. We know what we created. But today feels different. The lies are constant. The manipulation is polished. The damage is normalized.
All of this to gain control over things we cannot take with us.
We are all going to die. Every single one of us leaves this planet with nothing. And yet we are obsessed with taking everything while we are here.
I am not against people being rich. I am against people being careless. My family has been well off, and we have also been broke, not knowing where the next meal would come from. The answer is not endless handouts. The answer is basic decency.
Treat people better.
Treat resources better.
Stop wasting everything.
The Freaking Government!
Governments are a major part of the problem. Tax money is burned on useless programs while real problems are ignored. Healthcare could be better. Housing could be better. Food could be better. This applies to Canada, America, and nearly every country pretending to be functional.
People strike for better wages while others have nothing to eat. None of this would be necessary if money was spent wisely in the first place.
This is not complicated.
Simple-minded
Yes, I am being simple-minded. That is the point.
We already know what is wrong. Governments know what is written on paper. They just refuse to act because business interests come first. Big food companies are allowed to poison people with chemicals and colouring that serve no purpose. If we removed that garbage alone, healthcare costs would drop. People would be healthier. Less money would be wasted. More people could actually be helped.
Instead, we argue about electric cars versus gas cars. We pass legislation that makes no sense. We talk about global warming while ignoring decades of corruption and theft that made the problem worse in the first place.
Species are going extinct because of overfishing and resource extraction that we do not need. It happens because it makes money for shareholders. I am not against business. I am against waste.
What truly saddens me is the mindset of people today. Truth is blurred by lies. Lies are buried under fake news and real news until nothing means anything anymore. Everyone has an agenda. Nobody listens.
I am not religious. But at this point, the only honest ending is this.
God help us all.

A Recent Conversation With My Bro
A recent conversation with my brother had me thinking, and it honestly made me sad. The more we talked, the more it hit me just how messy, disturbing, irrational, and at times torturous the world feels right now.
We are supposed to be living in modern times. We are supposed to be more educated than we have ever been. We have more knowledge than any generation before us. We can look up almost anything. We can figure out nearly anything. Free education is everywhere, whether it is on YouTube, Books, TikTok, Instagram, or other platforms that were meant to help people grow. Tools that could benefit us in a positive way are now just as often used against us.
When I look back at what people like to call the good old days, there were fewer things demanding attention. We did not worry about likes or shares. Businesses were not fighting for survival online. You found them in the yellow pages. You picked up the phone. You showed up in person. Things moved more slowly, and because of that, they felt more real.
New, Fake News and You
Today, every action and reaction lives online. News gets out of hand. Fake news and real news both spread faster than anyone can keep up with. The world feels like it is at war with itself. Everyone has an agenda, no agenda, or an agenda pushed so far that it becomes noise. It is exhausting to even follow, let alone trust.
We live in a world where the future looks bleak. That is the part that sits heavily with me. I feel sad for the generations ahead of us. We are leaving them a garbage-ridden, microplastic-filled planet and calling it progress. We know better, yet we keep going anyway, as if someone else will deal with the consequences.
It also saddens me to think about how people once viewed the 70s as a free-for-all, a drug-crazed group of people misbehaving. Looking back now, those times would be considered almost angelic compared to what we see today. Compare that era to a world where we watch wars unfold between Russia and Ukraine, Israel, and an America that no longer feels like the America people once believed in.
Countries invade other countries without permission. Leaders talk openly about taking over land as if it is a simple move on a board. And the world you and I live in sits and watches it all happen because, realistically, we feel like we cannot do anything about it.
Make a Choice or Not!
Who do you vote for? Who do you trust? Who do you listen to when thinking about what the future should look like?
We are supposed to be the smartest we have ever been. And yet it feels like the human race today is the most ill-behaved, short-sighted, and careless group of people to ever exist on this beautiful marble floating through space.
Sometimes I think that if something out there were watching us, it would not see intelligence or progress. It would see confusion, ego, and destruction wrapped in technology.
So if there is anyone out there looking in, you would probably think we are the dumbest species in the galaxy. And honestly, if you are listening, feel free to take me somewhere more sensible, more desirable, if such a place even exists. Because the current state of Earth is a deeply depressing one.
If you feel this weight too, you are not alone. You are not broken for noticing it. Awareness is the first step, even when the answers are not clear yet.
