This is AUL SQL, an open source database server aiming to be (almost) compatible with Microsoft SQL Server for most sane uses, sometimes faster, definitely cheaper, and always more free.

Advantages:

• It listens on SQLServer-compatible ports, and supports most of the TDS protocol with TLS (tested against clients which use the official go-mssqldb package)

• It supports most of T-SQL, using my earlier projects tsqlparser and tgpiler

• Stored procedures are now text files, for which you can use standard versioning practices.

• Existing backend: SQLite

Use cases / scenarios

• Ready to use for local testing of small applications without a real MS SQL Server (for the subset of T-SQL currently supported by the existing backend)

• Can be used to start migrating small applications that use trivial MS SQL DDL / DML

Future versions:

• Planned backends: Postgres and Mysql

• JIT compiling hot path stored procedures to Go

• Integration with modern, external user management, and ACLs

• Modern telemetry

I was wondering why does SQL Server have the keyword `ISNULL`, when it already supports `COALESCE`. This was getting in the way of my queries working both for Postgres and SQL Server. As it turns out, `ISNULL` predates `COALESCE`, which was added to the standard with ANSI SQL-92.

But this is not all, there are functional differences as well in how data types are handled by both functions in SQL Server. More info at https://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2689/deciding-between-coalesce-and-isnull-in-sql-server.

In general I decided to always go with `COALESCE` and see how that works out with SQL Server as I go further on with adding Postgres support to our product.

n8n & Co: Starteten nicht. Permission denied. Die Lösung: Per chown die Host-Verzeichnisse an die korrekten UIDs der Container-internen User übergeben.

Piper (TTS): Startete immer noch nicht. VoiceNotFoundError. Das Image war fehlerhaft. Lösung: Manuelles Herunterladen der Sprachmodelle und Angabe des absoluten Pfads in der compose.yml.
