We made some last-minute incense burners for the Urbana winter market this weekend. Here's a little video of how they turned out, along with some photos and video of the market! :)

These were designed in #inkscape from scratch, then engraved on basswood, in 2 layers glued together, we then routed the edges, and sanded the pieces before staining. The orange one was engraved on basswood that was first spray painted orange, and then masked with masking tape, the engraving was subsequently filled in with black acrylic paint. It bled a bit through the tape unfortunately, but it kind of works, giving it a bit of a distressed look.

Almost an entire day of image taking, editing, etc... later, I just added a new listing to the website and the etsy page today.

This is a celestial sun, moon & stars thingy we made a while back, brought it to a few shows, but completely forgot we didn't list it online yet. woops.

This one was sort of kind of made by accident / from scraps.

We Spray painted the tile black, let it dry, put masking tape on, #lasercut the shapes out of the masking tape, then spray painted it gold - there was a bit of bleed-through, and it didn't work out for what we were originally going for, but it was still a cool design so we kept the tile around for later.

We also did a few sun moon & star lanterns, and had a bunch of cutouts from that, so we combined the tile with the cutouts, put it all in a box, poured resin in it, and this is what came out. There's little wood stars (also spray-painted gold) surrounding the ceramic tile, all of it suspended in the resin.

Finally got around to playing with a relatively recent tool addition to my local makerspace. It’s an OMTech 30W MOPA fiber laser. I’m in love 😍

Not a huge learning curve, software wise, since I’m very familiar with using Lightburn with a CO2 laser. Just having to learn what the new parameters like frequency and Q-pulse, among others, do. We have a nice material library so I have good starting points to play with. Not to mention all the how to videos I watched in preparation. 😂

Managed to engrave and cut out the makerspace logo from 24ga (0.5mm) brass sheet. It’s small at about 15x15mm. It’s going to be inlaid into wood for another project. #Makerspace #Lasercut
