The #massspectrometers often have a higher than 20% variation in standard variation from the calibration to what the manufacturer of the LC columns says, so we have an issue with validation.
On my first day I already pointed out that the group lead who constantly is overwhelmed with the work and without any work structure... Doesn't know how to pipette.

I did research in my own time at home and wrote an analysis of how critical this is and how it affects the actual pipetted volumes. Pretty much did fit the 20% difference.
When using #waters #lcms tool #targetlynx to do the peak integration, you move the area under the curve by dragging two black squares, but often they are 95% hidden by the stupid way the interface is done, so you spend ages trying to grab them with your mouse coz at times it's just a few pixel.
I found out you can just tell the program to set the baseline not to 0 but to -10% so your 0 line is higher and TADAAAA , the squares are not occluded anymore. They work with this for years like that. My colleagues had been so surprised when I showed them saying " well ... That would have been kind of good to know from the start."
So much time they wasted 🤷
