#Isopod #Porcellio #hoffmannseggii is one of the largest known #terrestrial isopods. It is native to southern Spain, #Portugal, and #Morocco. Adults can reach a length of 4 centimeters.
It exhibits unusually strong #territorial #behavior and is also known for guarding its #offspring.
I am successfully #breeding this #species.

For a cool character, it was time to draw an Ice Isopod

digital illustration in a painterly style depicting an anthropomorphic isopod, walking up straight in the middle of a frozen wasteland. The character has spiky dark iron decorations over their body, holding a ragged burgundy skirt, as well as along the carapace, which is also covered in ice. On the biggest arms, they are seen sporting a couple of sharp fist weapons, while their eyes glow a bright teal/blue.

Look who came out for a pose! One of the big powder-orange isopods in a perfect stance, big enough to see her eyes, and if you can look closely, all those little white dots in the soil are baby ones.

A terrarium scene featuring a small reddish-brown isopod on a dark substrate. Two whimsical mushroom-shaped decorations are present in the background, one with a smiling face and the other resembling a ghostly figure with a smile. Green succulent plants fill the background.

My Day 5 pic(k) for Crustmas is this
(presumably) female Cymodoce truncata. No spoilers, but some individuals of this species have some really beautiful patterning (Iβ€˜m saving those pics for later) :P

Pale brown isopod against a black background. It has a relatively sturdy build, two pairs of rather short antennae the posterior end is pointed. Its uropods (2 per side) end at about the same level as the point and are spaced quite far apart. It also has some red algae on its butt

This is a biggie. She's probably about 1.5cm long, bright orange armor that is showing the dotted raised texture that isopods get when they're really big. Millipede back there too. There are easily 200 isopods in this photo, ranging from centimeters to nanometers.

Terrarium view, many pieces of wood, vegetable matter, and trailing succulent. A large powder-orange isopod is seen next to a green piece of cucumber, a millipede can be seen beyond it.

This marine #isopod Idotea balthica is a #Native #species, found on seaweed and seagrass in the subtidal zone of rocky shores around the British coast. The nearest terrestrial relative is a small range of #woodlouse species. #Brighton #Wildlife #Biodiversity #Nature #brightonwildlife
