Apple AirPods added hearing assist recently. Maybe you already have hearing aids, but sometimes prefer better audio quality and/or noise cancellation of airpods. It's easy to add your hearing results and use the airpods for hearing assist and to tune to better match ear's frequency response.
With airpods in, tap their entry in the phone's settings app, click Hearing Assistant, then near bottom of page Update Hearing Results. Apple has their own test you can take, but if you've got one from audiologist click Add Hearing Test Result then you can scan paper results with camera, or manually add by opening photo/file of results, or even typing in the numbers.

Does anyone know anything about free open code software for hearing aids?
Is there any open software for changing the controls of hearing aids without needing an appointment with an audiologist?

I get so angry everytime I think about it. After buying something so simple at such an exaggerated cost, I still can't control my everyday hearing. I need around six appointments before the hearing aids stop hurting me every day.

Cried twice today so far.
Introductory online M.E. clinic meeting this morning with a view to getting more help plus assessment and diagnosis. It was quite emotionally heavy.
Plus the wire on my left hearing aid has decided to break, so I'm down to right side only, and it really highlights just how reliant I am on them both. Worried about the future & how I'll cope.
Could be worse but could be a lot fucking better as well.

Happy to report I've finally got a working hearing aid charger! My hearing aids are back in action and the world is unmuted once again.

Though honestly, the silence was pretty good for my mental health while it lasted!

Dang it. My (new) hearing aid charger bit the dust overnight, so no hearing aids for the next couple of days. The device will be covered and hopefully the audiologist will be able to get me a loaner tomorrow.

There is nothing for it but to dive into a couple of days of silence and lip reading. Time to embrace the quiet and see what I notice when the world goes on mute!

I'm in the waiting space in my tattoo shop, and there's a kid here with their parent.. the kid is maybe 5 years old, and has bilateral hearing aids.

They just looked at me and said "did you know bats hear better than me?"

I told them bats also hear better than me, and they seem pretty chuffed by that.

I’m returning my new #hearingaids if they’re the best there is, I can go waaay cheaper for a shitty User experience.

Here’s the weird thing: the ones I bought are not listed on their webpage. Funny how their #Costco nature of conveniently not knowing what’s to display in-store, when it comes to hearing aids this practice is exactly what the regular hearing aid stores do.
