In the foreground you see the seawater inside the harbor like a plane due to the long exposure. The seawater is turquoise with dark patches. At the end of the harbour the ruins of an old tuna factory are seen. Behind the ruins small mountains or hills are seen with the ruins of a castle on top of the largest one. Above a dark blue sky with only patches of white clouds are seen.

The calm blue-grayish sea is covering three quarters of the photo. At the horizon the silhouette of Sicily is visible. In the middle up front there’s a seagull with spread wings touching the surface of the sea with one foot. Behind another seagull is circling in and some more seagulls are swimming on the water.

The bottom half of the photo shows the sea in blue greenish tones, the upper half shows a cloudy sky in blue violet tones. At the horizon a red pinkish line is visible from the setting sun. At the left is a opening in the clouds where rays of light are coming through straight down to the sea.

For #Meermittwoch, I've choosen an image from my archive, that I scanned from 35mm Fuji Provia slide film.

The image was taken on a stormy day on Favignana, one of the Egadi Islands, west of Sicily. The island of Levanzo can be seen on the horizon.

The cove with its turquoise waters is called "Cala Rossa", the Red Bay. It was the place of one of the most important naval battles in antiquity, ending the First Punic War. It was fought between Romans and Carthagians, with a loss of 200 Carthargian ships. The coastline was colored red.
