How does digitalization influence science and society on the path toward more sustainable futures? This question lies at the heart of the Interdisciplinary International Graduate Summer School.

Great possibility to deep-dive into this and a lot more questions by our #DiTraRe project partner Institut für Technikfolgenabschätzung und Systemanalyse @ITAS 👏

Announcement for Constantin Bress' talk: Making Law Machine Actionable for Research
Abstract:
Researchers are met with different legal requirements during their work. Be it regulation or possible usage agreements. While important, this als creates overhead and potential pitfalls, when the legal information is not easily findable. One approach to these problems is to include the legal information in the metadata. This could be information about licensing, data usage agreements, or regulative requirements of acts like the Nagoya Regulation of the EU. I want to present you the reasons and chances of legal metadata, but also the limitations, e.g. when used for automated contract negotiation.

Last week, our colleagues Juraj Sikra, Diana Dimitrowa and Sophie Lea Singson presented the poster entitled A short commentary on "Would John Dewey wear a fitbit? A pragmatist analysis of self-tracking technologies' impact on habit formation" at the #DiTraRe Symposium 2025

This Poster was presented on the Symposium of the DiTraRe Leibniz Science Campus held in December 2025. It corresponds with a paper analyzing a publication by author M. Wieczorek. In this publication the author discusses the efficiency and potential risks of current technologies in self-trackers as tools meant to improve the life of its wearer. Wieczorek demands a human-centric approach to technology to improve the use and minimize the risks of the technology. We took this publication one step further by highlighting the benefits of an interdisciplinary approach to research questions like the ones discussed by the original publication. We added imput especially from a legal standpoint.
